My library used book sale haul from this morning 🤪 So much for trying to stick to a very restricted buying criteria 🤦‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️ Several of these I‘ve had on my Goodreads ‘To Read‘ list for years. So, now that I have a physical copy on my Mt. TBR pile there‘s no excuse to not get to them now 😏😜LOL yeah, right - watch me 🤣

A truly heartbreaking account of the many, many women abused, neglected, raped, and killed by the Kennedy clan. Alongside the well known Jackie, Carolyn, and Marilyn are several others whose names are lost to history but whose lives were forever altered by Kennedy men. Just another sad reminder that men with wealth, power, and family clout have been getting away with the most egregious behavior for decades.

squirrelbrain Sounds fascinating, if 😠- stacking. 3mo

HeatherBookNerd @squirrelbrain @tpixie @TrishB it‘s fascinating all right, and immensely disheartening. 3mo

#2 of 2025 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

tpixie This sounds amazing! I know of their hiding the mentally handicapped daughter(I‘m not certain of their correct word these days.) ( or did she get a lobotomy and became handicapped) , the Chappaquiddick bridge accident, & some younger generation Kennedy being accused of rape maybe back in the 1990s. It sounds like there‘s a lot more than that. 7mo
DarkMina @tpixie She had some mental disability and the lobotomy made it worse, causing her to be at the level of a young child. Joe Kennedy locked her away in a facility away from the family so she wouldn‘t embarrass them. Yeah it goes into how all the men in that family treated women. (edited) 7mo
tpixie @DarkMina yes! Thanks. I‘m going to have to read this. I told my sister about it and she‘s reading it now. 7mo
DarkMina @tpixie You‘re welcome! 7mo

Julsmarshall Oof. I applaud her standing up for what is true and right. (edited) 8mo
ncsufoxes I hope they listen to her. As a mom of an Autistic child this man needs to stay far away from DHHS. I fear what his views (& possible actions) will do to the Autistic community. As well as countless other families & individuals that utilize services that fall under DHHS. 8mo
AnnCrystal Thanks for sharing this 🧐🙏🇺🇸💝. 8mo

They were careless people… they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness, or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made. —F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby

Wide variety of Christmas stories, lyrics, and poems collected here by Caroline Kennedy. The artwork felt like it was from the 1960s, so I had to keep reminding myself this was published in the 2000s. A nice collection to read around Christmastime, though. My dad got this signed by the author and kept the newspaper clipping saying when she came to town.

Very interesting to read a hot take on the Kennedys that doesn‘t deify them. This story of the womanising, misogynistic, side of Kennedy privilege is grim reading, and when narrated cumulatively like this is shocking although nothing here is especially novel or new information. My only critique of this book is that I found the structure a little scattered.

DogMomIrene I read her book American Predator as an audiobook and she jumped around with the killer‘s timeline, which was hard to follow. But the actual story was fascinating. Stacking this one because sounds really good, but I‘ll go with print. 11mo
ClairesReads @DogMomIrene a good point! I didn‘t notice that about American Predator but I read it in print so that might be why! Definitely worth reading this 11mo

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis. The epitome of a powerful woman. She played the games, and dealt with the consequences, all while looking fabulous. Facetiousness aside, this is the biography of a woman who experienced unspeakable trauma and lived with it the best she knew how for the rest of her days. Yet, I‘m left wondering if she was ever truly happy.
