#Monthlynonfiction Starting with 027 The Library Book edited by Rebecca Gray

A beautiful picture book biography that makes Augusta Baker‘s story accessible to readers of all ages. Centering her first as a storyteller is a smart, inviting choice, and the illustrations are absolutely gorgeous. I‘m so glad books like this exist. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

12-27-25: Mu 78th finished book of 2025! When a group of librarians in Austin, Texas discover two of their patrons have been murdered, and they don‘t even know each other, the librarians set off to figure out what happened. Great cast of characters. Hazel has just moved back from Singapore. She is an heiress but wants a simple life. She meets Sophie, Jonathan and Astrid and together they enlist Ryan, a medical examiner and Conrad an old friend.

I didn't receive any books for Christmas, but I did get a BAM gift card, so I bought some for myself. #nevertoomanybooks #neverenoughshelves

I wanted to love this book, stealthy library staff taking on crimes but it just didn't work for me. It felt like it could have been several different stories and then a publisher was like you should weave them all together and then give them access to crime solving technology and connections to detectives, computer hackers, ex military, art dealers, drug rings and so much more making all of it more and more out of the realm of believability.

Composed of three essays, this book leans more towards an academic style of reading. It examines the history of organizing and cataloging books, especially it's early stages. Definitely found it to be interesting.

🎄What‘s the most memorable book cover you‘ve seen recently? Why?

Four years.
48 months.
1,461 days.
35,064 hours.
2,103,840 minutes.
126,230,400 seconds.
That‘s how long I‘d waited for the new book by my favorite author, Lukas Gerbhardt: Don‘t Tread on Me.
To put it in perspective, I was graduating middle school when I read Lukas‘s last book, A House of Wooden Windows.
