The story, about a #Tucson #millennial woman who recently graduated from college yet still remains among the #unemployed, is brought alive by the author‘s crisp, funny writing. Lindy @Butterfinger Yes! When I looked at their clothes online, they seem so plain. Maybe simplicity and clean lines are their trademark? Next thing that happened is Everlane advertising showed up in my Facebook feed. 5y

Lindy @saresmoore It‘s a pity that you missed your hold. The novel is excellent. I wonder when our libraries in Edmonton will reopen. Most of the staff are being laid off. 😔 5y

saresmoore Oh, that‘s devastating! I hope it will be temporary. 10 million folks in the U.S. have applied for unemployment in the past two weeks, but I have many friends who‘ve simply been put on furlough so that they can retain job-provided health benefits and still apply for gov‘t aid, while not receiving a paycheck. These are uncertain times, to be sure. 5y

Lindy @saresmoore It is indeed a challenging time for us all. At least health benefits are less of a worry in Canada, with basic universal coverage, but the loss of income is worry enough. Federal changes have recently made unemployment insurance benefits more flexible and inclusive, but there are so many applicants that I‘ve heard that process is a trial in itself. 5y

Great on audio. Hearing Charly read her poems, written when ages 16-22, was a moving experience. As she struggles with anxiety and depression, being uncomfortable in her body, experiencing heartbreaks and self doubt, it felt familiar. It‘s a long time since I was her age, but I‘m not sure some of us ever lose those feelings completely. I love that she quotes “our lord savior” Britney Spears in her introduction,”I‘m not a girl, not yet a woman”💕
