The Tiffany Girls, a historical novel,is set in a boarding house & L.C. Tiffany‘s factory in Corona neighborhood of Queens NY.It is 1899 & Tiffany is feverishly preparing for the Paris World Fair.Tiffany‘s “girls” are the designers, glass cutters & assemblers of his visions.Clara Driscoll, a real life designer of stained glass windows & lamps in her own right, supervises the girls on the factory floor.Among the boarding house residents are Emilie🔽

kspenmoll 🔼 the daughter of a Parisian art forger, who leaves Paris to embark on a new life in NY, hopefully to be accepted as a Tiffany girl. Her roommate & friend,Grace,is an expert copyist with aspirations to break into the news world as a social/political cartoonist. We follow them in NY, to Paris for the World Fair, & back to NY. This novel opened up a previous unknown world to me- that of Tiffany, stained glass, & his “girls.” 8mo

It‘s about 42 degrees but I heard the chorus of bird song out my car window- I had to enjoy my latte & croissant to their tunes. Bliss. #Coffeeandbooks #coffeeandbirdsong 🐧☕️🥐 📖 #readyourkindle #TBR

Reading The Tiffany Girls tonight, which has taken me down a rabbit hole hole of stain glass, artists,Tiffany‘s life story, & the “Tiffany girls” who worked for him-Apparently there was an exhibit in 2017 at the New York Historical Society that featured these women & their stories. I want to know more about them. https://www.nyhistory.org/exhibitions/gallery-tiffany-lamps

kspenmoll @TheBookHippie @Chelsea.Poole @TheSpineView I was reading on my phone‘s kindle app but I applaud their self possession … they took their books out in unison- I wonder if they were reading the same book? I meant to say something to them after the game but it so wild with the win & cheering etc! 9mo

Thanks to William Morrow Books & Bibliolifestyle for 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐆𝐢𝐫𝐥𝐬 by 𝐒𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐲 𝐍𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞, published 𝘵𝘰𝘥𝘢𝘺. It's the story of 3 young women who are brought together by chance, driven by their desire to be artists in one of the only ways acceptable for women in their time, who break the glass ceiling of their era & for working women to come. I love historical fiction about trailblazing women!

As a political artist myself, this piece speaks to me. Being a mom in 2019 is protecting my children from things. I don't know who created this piece but it's amazing. Reading books that empower myself to be strong is important to me. I will defend and protect my children from mainstream ideology at all costs. Art is powerful. We cannot be afraid to voice the truth and stop injustices. This book is a 10!

I have to read this book for my history class, and it's actually pretty enjoyable! I love all the cartoons and Lamb's commentary on how they reflect current events.

Also, I'm at a middle school today. It's the day after spring break, a new quarter and April Fool's day. Pray for me. 😂

Buechersuechtling Let us know how your day went. 😄 6y
Rachel.Rencher @Buechersuechtling Surprisingly well! I had one kid who wanted to prank me by switching seats, but the other kids wouldn't do it out of fear of being marked tardy. 😂 It was an easy day. 6y

The good “doctor” drew this when we prosecuted Jewish asylum seekers and denied them entry in 1941. ❤️❤️❤️ (it is a sarcastic cartoon)

Purrsistently @Slajaunie yeah. I wonder just how criminal the underground railroad was, or the things Schindler did to rescue children. 6y
