I have been saving this one (part of my #RecipeSwap package from @BookNAround last year) for my virtual foodie book club. Sweet WWII historical fiction about 4 very different British women in a wartime cooking contest with the first prize of being a radio host on The Kitchen Front radio show, helping housewives & home cooks creat good meals from their rations & learn how to stretch them. A bit predictable , but an endearing story of friendship.

I love the recipes - I‘ve always wondered exactly what a “pot roast” is, now I can cook one myself😀 and the noodle salad sounds yum😋 The book is beautiful and I‘m delighted with all the lovely extras you included. Lindy I listened to Gansworth read his memoir and then went to a website to see his artwork; it‘s better to have it in hard copy, I think, even though I really liked the audiobook. Hope you enjoy the book. 3y

CarolynM @Lindy There are a lot of illustrations. I don‘t think I‘d get their significance if I had to look them up after reading. The book looks fascinating, I‘m looking forward to getting in to it. 3y

Centique Pot roast was my go to recipe when I was a uni student and had an electric frypan in my flat. I never seem to do it as well these days on the gas hob. Let me know if you make it and the recipe works well! ☺️ 3y

I‘m finally home and got to open my wonderful #recipeswap from @DebinHawaii . It‘s fantastic! I love that you got yourself copies of the books too 😂 I am looking forward to using the Hawaiian salt and the bookmark is adorable. Your recipes look amazing! I will definitely try your mom‘s cookies first. (Wondering if I‘ll have to share with family. Hmmm.)

After I taped the box shut I found it & wasn‘t sure if I printed two or didn‘t send. I‘ll email or send you a copy if it didn‘t make it in the box. 🫣 3y

I‘d forgotten what books I‘d put on the sign up form and luckily had resisted all urges to buy this - as I am a complete sucker for illustrated covers with houses on them.

Thanks so much Gemma, these recipes look 🤤 especially the chocolate croissant pudding - will have to see if I can borrow a slow cooker… and Australia is just heading into winter so perfect timing for soup and mushroom wellingtons!
