A good novella
Read for reading challenges

4 Stars • The Answer Is No by Fredrik Backman is a quick, funny read that‘s pure Backman—witty, warm, and a bit absurd. Lucas, a grumpy introvert, just wants to game and eat pad thai in peace, but a rogue frying pan in his building‘s recycling room sparks a hilarious mess of nosy neighbors, petty apartment board drama, and even a cult calling him an angel. ⬇️
Scalzi plays on all the stereotypes of fantasy and sci fi to write the opening to a series that doesn‘t exist. I repeat, even though it says it‘s book one, it‘s not. It‘s a parody of a series opener. It‘s very short (an 11-minute read) and often funny. An easy final read for June‘s #authoramonth @Soubhiville
I started this short story last night to squeeze in one more book for #authoramonth. @Soubhiville
Some short stories manage to pack more tension and emotion into a few pages than some full-length novels, and Ushers by Joe Hill does exactly that. From the first page, I was drawn into this wild tale that explores survival and suspicion.
For such a compact tale, this short story is incredibly powerful.

I‘ve been collecting some books to unhaul, and today I‘m going to as many free libraries as I can in my community. Excited!
Claire Keegan delivers here quite a sad, but not uncommon tale of an unhappy marriage.
Quite atmospheric, it's a well-written short story.
This short story by this month‘s #AuthorAMonth is available for free on Amazon/Kindle. A quick read - not sure how much of a tone it sets regarding Scalzi‘s writing, he‘s totally new to me. Sci-fi and a bit dry for my taste. Expands on the concept of AI that feels believable & vaguely upsetting.
