I feel like I‘m posting the same review as most on this #independentwomen buddyread.

There were parts I liked and a good chunk when I thought about bailing. “Uneven” is the description I‘ve seen of the writing and I have to agree. But the ending saved it for me. I‘m glad I finished it. Not quite a pick still. Looking forward to the discussion on the 3rd.

It‘s chilly outside, but the sun is shining and reading in the sunspot is cozy.

I didn‘t dislike this book read for #naturalitsy, but I was disappointed that a lot of it wasn‘t actually about seahorses. Instead it felt like it was reaching, going into ancient artworks, traditional Chinese medicine, and the aquarium trade in order to flesh out the book. While seahorses did eventually work into each of those topics, focus lacked.

I love this series so much.

This one is a stand alone, though we get a few glimpses of other characters and worlds you‘ll recognize if you‘ve read the whole series.

I wish it wouldn‘t be another year before the next Door appears!

This book sounds so strange going in that I wasn‘t sure I‘d like it. But Kevin Wilson hasn‘t failed me yet.

Lillian takes a job an old friend offers her as a nanny for two twins who just lost their mom. The kids have a strange problem though- when they get upset or agitated they catch on fire.

I loved these characters so much, I kind of didn‘t want the book to end.

I have mixed feelings about Lucy Barton. Sometimes she has thoughts that feel profound and beautiful. But sometimes she feels petty or mean, and I really don‘t like her.

Really I think that‘s pretty genius of Elizabeth Strout. She has written Lucy in such an honest way, not hiding flaws, letting you feel all of her emotions even if they‘re uncomfortable.

Overall though, I didn‘t enjoy this. I had to push to finish.
