#BookReport and #WeeklyForecast combo post

I wasn‘t a very productive reader this week. I only finished one audiobook. I barely made progress on any of my already in progress books and didn‘t even start my one #BookedInTime from last week. Even worse, the next book for book club has been chosen so now I have *two* up next books. #SlowReaderProblems.

I wish I could read faster! I already want to know where this is going, and I'm only 60 pages in.

All my holds came in!! ???

Anybody else put their Kindle on airplane mode so they can "keep" the books as long as they need them? I have to every time. ?

Seriously though, checking out ebooks has changed my life! ?

#kindlefire #ebooks #overdrive #slowreaderproblems

Jess7 Wait what? Putting it on airplane mode prevents your library books from automatically returning to the library? This is news to me but makes sense. I'm torn about this new found knowledge. On one hand that is awesome if you need to finish a book a couple days past the due date but really sucks if it doesn't allow people to check it out after you? 😳 7y
mrsthilkey No it goes back to the library for others to check out!! I wouldn't do that to fellow readers. 😄 My kindle just doesn't realize it until it checks back in to the wifi. 7y
Ellebeekay Yes I use the airplane trick all the time 🤓🤓 7y
EvieBee I didn't know about that. Genius!!! 7y
readordierachel Yep! I love that trick. 7y

#JuneMostAnticipated #JuneBookBugs @RealLifeReading

This is a review copy so I'd better get cracking 😬

I'm definitely looking forward to this but I'd planned to revisit her short stories and read the novels I haven't yet read alongside the bio but I realised I literally don't have all year. #slowreaderproblems

merelybookish Looks good! I've read a bit of her stuff and find her fascinating. 7y
batsy @merelybookish That she definitely is! 7y
andrew61 Ill be really interested to know what this is like, ive read two of her novels and have another on my shelf, they are really unique, but her life sounds interesting as well. 7y

batsy @andrew61 Yes, it really sounds like she had a fascinating life. I've heard lots of good things about the bio so I'm quite excited ☺️ 7y
Leftcoastzen The thing that annoys me is my go -to major city libraries have the bio and none of her work.Used to be libraries would keep good authors on the shelves from 60s ,70s,80s,I know budgets are tight but I want them have more than the classics and the newest bestsellers.Anyone else care to comment? 7y
batsy @Leftcoastzen That's really unfortunate. I'm not sure why that is, but it does seem to suggest slashed funding and maybe an indication of how publishing industry trends affect/influence libraries? I wish I knew; in Malaysia we do not have a library system. At all. Just one or two stand-alone libraries in certain areas, with bestsellers and children's books. 7y
Leftcoastzen @batsy wow ,no libraries,I am feeling like the entitled American.😔I think you are right ,fewer older titles in print and contracting with single vendor a problem too.I remember in old days a librarian on staff who's job it was to work with book scouts and used book vendors to replace worthy volumes. 7y
batsy @Leftcoastzen Oh no, not at all, but yes I think North America and perhaps UK have fantastic library systems that's really not found in these parts. (Singapore to the south of us is pretty good, though.) 7y

Well, at least I tried. I can't actually concentrate anymore and this book totally deserves to have my full attention.

Tomorrow I am going to continue my #readathon but for now, I am in desperate need of a little sleep. Is anyone else planning to extend their readathon?

Maike For me it's more like a 24 in 48 😅 8y
Read.Em.And.Eat Making up for lost time? That's pretty much what I'm doing hahaha 8y
CocoReads I will read what I can today but Monday is a day off for me so I think I'm going to make up the most lost time then. 8y

Trying to hang in there. I'm an incredibly slow reader. My reading buddy has not only finished this book, but is more than half way through her second one. I can only dream of reading that quickly.

(note: My slow pace has nothing to do with the quality of the book. This book is beautifully written and tells a compelling story so far.)
