Picked this one for my #LRC #startswithZ. The book kept me interested and the pages going. Multiple narrators telling the same story but with different accounts. Who is telling the truth? Not my favorite read this month but I‘m satisfied.

This book was recommended by a friend as a different kind of gothic novel from what I had read, and I really enjoyed it. I don‘t quite know how to describe the story without giving too much information, but I appreciated the strength of Princess Ziska and how it turned a few gothic tropes on their heads. For example, the man is the one who is so overcome that he faints, and in one scene he distracts himself with the “frothiest of French novels.”

I enjoyed this one. It was good and different. The end was sweet and the characters were likable.

This urban fantasy novel was really far outside of my comfort zone. I'm a nonfiction and realistic fiction reader, but I decided to take a risk to finish out my #litsyreadingchallenge bingo card. If you're into urban fantasy, you'd probably enjoy this. The writing was solid and the premise was interesting. I just couldn't buy into the fantasy elements.

(And with that, my #LRC challenge is complete!)
I realized that I had 3 audiobooks on the go (since my Final Girls pre-order arrived, and I can't resist that one after so many positive reviews here), so I returned my previous #startswithZ read and exchanged it for this ebook. The cover alone is enough to convince me. I don't read much urban fantasy though, so this could be a whole new adventure for me!
This had some interesting parts but I feel like Zorba's hedonistic life philosophy would have been more of a novelty back in the day when this was published. The plot just didn't grab me but I can see why some people love it.
This was my #StartsWithZ book for #litsyreadingchallenge and my 1946 book for #192019challenge.
As a whole, this is an excellent collection of stories and some amazing authors contributed to it (ie Roxane Gay, Neil Gaiman, Mike Carey, etc). I liked some stories better than others, but enjoyed the bind up! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #LitsyAtoZ @BookishMarginalia #litsyreadingchallenge #startswithZ @jessica
I'm starting this now. I'm not sure what to expect, Litsy reviews are about 50% good/bad. I usually like WWII stories, so I'm hoping to get something out of it. #LitsyAtoZ #LetterZ #StartsWithZ #LitsyReadingChallenge2017
I loved this. Perhaps it's my mindset since I recently finished a jazz age unit and just finished a Hemingway one as well. I loved seeing her side of the story - even a fictionalized one. Great read. #litsyreadingchallenge #startswithZ #LitsyAtoZ #LetterZ
