Well didn‘t see me even enjoying it. And when I finished it I swear I looked like this 😳 for a good hour afterwards. It‘s not my typical genre but I wanted something different. Being it‘s the authors first book I am extremely impressed! 5⭐️s from me for sure!! #thepush #bookspinbingo

This book is a psychological story about a woman whose experience of motherhood is not what she hoped for. After her daughter Violet is born, Blythe Connor is convinced that there is something wrong with her as she doesn‘t behave like most children do. Her husband, Fox, says she‘s imagining things. When their son Sam is born, she has a blissful connection that she‘d always imagined with her child.

EadieB This book will challenge everything you think you know about motherhood. The book touches on many issues: childbirth, nursing, postpartum depression, failure to bond with a child, miscarriage, abortion, infant death, child abuse and suicide. Hard to believe that this is a debut novel. 3y

The Push is a psychological thriller about a couples baby group that has a barbecue after the births of their babies. One person ends up dead by falling off a balcony and secrets abound. Were they pushed or did they fall?
The story is told by two narrators, Jax, an older pregnant woman and Allison, a police investigator and switches between the past and present.

EadieB Characters are a bit hard to keep track of and the story is a slow build but becomes a page-turner and screeches to a surprise ending. I have read McGowan's Paula Maguire series and her other books and have enjoyed them too. I look forward to her next book and recommend this book to those who love psychological thrillers. Thanks to NetGalley and Amazon Publishing UK for a free copy for an honest review. (edited) 3y
