Read this on recommendation from a good friend, and I loved it!! The magic system is unlike what I‘ve seen before, and the characters are so lovable. Can‘t wait to continue the series! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Book #2 in this fantasy trilogy. Locke Lamora is now one of my favorite fantasy characters. The Robin Hood of Fantasy with fun escapades and fun dialogue. Locke and Jean are made to become pirates to work towards swindling two of their conquests. 🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️

I'm going to say something that may be surprising, considering the acclaim this book has gotten, but I had a hard time getting into this one. The pacing just felt off and the flashbacks seemed intrusive at times.
However, this did have some great characters and world building, and the plot was unique and interesting. I'm calling it a pick overall, but I'm not sure if I'll be continuing the series or not.

I loved this book so much… it was so well written and super entertaining! I haven‘t read a historical fiction book that I loved this much in a long time!!! Highly, highly recommend!!

August was another great reading month for me & I struggled to pick a favorite between the tagged book (read with #SundayBuddyRead ) & Chain-Gang All-Stars but ultimately this fascinating historical fiction novel won out as my #12BooksOf2024 pick.
A close second: Chain-Gang All-Stars (the audio book) Honorable Mentions: Hello Stranger, Black Sheep, The Undermining of Twyla and Frank, Bear, Unwell Women & Incidents Around the House

#12Booksof2024 Day 8
My favorite book of August was The Forty Elephants, which I read with #SundayBuddyRead .

Found this book interesting and entertaining! The characters were fun, the story was intriguing and it was an easy read. The only issue I had was the ending. It felt rushed and incomplete. And why did Alice never see her beau again?! I wanted a happy ending for them. But the dynamics of Alice being placed in a power position in The Mint was really fascinating and not something that you would expect in that time frame. Overall, loved it!
