Any Grantchester fans out there? I'm a huge fan of the Masterpiece Mystery TV show, and really enjoyed this prequel to the books. I'm going to start on the book series soon.

A nice look into the lives of actress Hilarie Burton and her husband Jeffrey Dean Morgan. I thought this book was sweet and heartfelt.

A great mystery with some historical fiction combine to make a fast paced read. I really enjoyed this one - even though I had a minor issue with keeping track of some of the characters.

Wish I could give this better than just a “pick“ emoji. I want to be able to choose a “go run right out and get this book“ emoji! This book made my heart break. The story is gorgeous, and painful, and it felt so real. It's about friendship and love, and fighting for all that you love - and living through things that can either make you or break you. I could not put it down, and it definitely got me out of my book slump!

Daisy Jones and The Six | Taylor Jenkins Reid
post image
Pickpick

This was entertaining, in a VH1 Behind the Music kind of way. It's set up as interviews with the band The Six, Daisy Jones, record execs, and various friends and family. Nothing too surprising, but it kept me engaged - because c'mon, it's fun gossip; and not everyone's memories are in sync. People have their own way of remembering things. This book follows the journey of an up and coming rock band that makes it big - and then calls it quits.

I‘m really enjoying what I‘ve read so far, but I read a few pages and I‘m done. I seem to be in a book slump. Started 3 different books, and not feeling it. Not sure why. And my book blog has been doomed because of it. Any suggestions?

Just posted my review on my blog https://bookwormcottage.wordpress.com/author/bookwormcottage/
Basically a short story collection, that didn‘t quite enthrall me. A 50/50 - a couple of the stories were good, and I wish were longer. Some were just so/so. I found it a bit of a downer.

This book is so beautifully written, and hits all of the emotions – there is such sadness, and yet so much hope that you can‘t help but fall in love with the characters. Gail Honeyman does a fantastic job of portraying the characters and their emotions with a quirky wit that will make you smile. This is one of my favorites! My full review can be found here:

What happens when a lonely woman faces kindness for the first time in her life? You get a heart wrenching, but heartwarming story. This book is so beautifully written, and it will stay with you for a long time. As the story unfolds you get small clues as to why Eleanor Oliphant is so abrasive and alone. It‘s a sad story that builds to it‘s hidden secrets, that although not a huge surprise, still hits you like a gut punch. Loved it!

What if you had the opportunity to kill Adolf Hitler? 1944 - Yael is 6 years old and sent to a concentration camp. 1956 – The Third Reich rules part of the world, and Japan the other. Yael has been training for an important mission even if it means that she may sacrifice her own life.

I wasn't so sure about this one, but I took a leap of faith. The book takes place in 1978 where Ted, who although estranged from his father, learns that Marty has terminal lung cancer moves back home to take care of him. When Marty starts to take a turn for the worse, Ted comes up with an idea to make his father believe that his beloved Red Sox are winning, and may be in contention for the Championship.

Just like the first book, this one has all of the snarky dialogue and adventure as the first. In this installment of the story we finally start to get some answers surrounding the mystery of what happened to Digby‘s little sister.  But we don‘t get all of the answers, which is fine by me, because getting there is half the fun!

Loved this book! Of course to like a book there needs to be a good story, and there is, but this book was also paced perfectly- it never slowed down or lagged. I also really enjoyed the characters. At first I wondered why some characters were introduced, however as the story moves along (did I mention the great pace) it becomes clear how these characters will fit and interact. Heroes, villains and a mystery to solve - this book was my cup of tea!
