The story started off slow. I found it a bit odd from the beginning that a friend that was so "likeable" had random friends pulled together for her "hen". It definitely picked up, half way through, and I didn't see the end coming!

WOW! The title of this memoir does not lie, Dave Grohl is an AMAZING storyteller. I highly recommend the audiobook. Listening to Dave himself tell the tales of his life and formation as a passionate and talented Rockstar intertwined with his own personal musical interludes captives the reader and brings them center stage to the creation of a legend.

It Starts with Us | Colleen Hoover
Pickpick

It's been a while since I read "It Ends With Us", so I wasn't sure what to expect with this sequel. Colleen Hoover's writing has a way of jumping off the page, fueling me to devour the entire story. I didn't find the sequel nearly as intense or compelling as the original, but given the nature of the more lighthearted tale, I found it to be sweet and satisfying.

Wow! This book was incredible. The story about learning to live for yourself and appreciate all the beautiful tendencies of those you love was wonderful in addition to the vivid illustrations of Italy through delicious foods and breathtaking views. As someone who views my mother as my best friend, I found the story to be emotional yet remarkable and would definitely recommend it.

Firefly Lane | Kristin Hannah
Pickpick

If you're looking for a good cry, this book is for you. I had a hunch about the ending, but it still got me to well up multiple times. A very relatable story of best friends during the many chapters of life. I found Tully to be a bit selfish and annoying at times--maturing into a successful woman, yet still too naive to recognize her best friend's insecurities; however Hannah develops both characters beautifully given their family history.

The Cousins | Karen M. Mcmanus
Pickpick

Wow, what a suspenseful ride all the way until the end! McManus weaves together an intricate plot of a complicated family seamlessly. My only complaint is the use of so many A names for the Story siblings. While it ties the siblings together and shows their close bond, it often confused me on who was who!

Behind Her Eyes | Sarah Pinborough
Mehso-so

This book really had me on the edge of my seat for the majority of the story. I felt exactly on par with the main character, Louise, unsure of what to believe and who to trust. The ending of the book went a little too far into the scifi realm for me, making it a little detached from the rest of the story and a tad disappointing.

Suspicious Minds | Gwenda Bond
Mehso-so

For fans of Stranger Things obsessing over ever detail they can get, I recommend this book. The back story of Terry Ives gives you a glimpse into how Elevens powers came to be, while rationalizing Eight's presences in that one episode everyone hated. However, there are still some inconsistencies in the story line with the other children in the study, and I wished more was included about Terry's attempts to save her daughter.

While reading, you will experience every emotion from inspired and intrigued to fury and grief. This story beautifully articulates the troubling understanding we have of our English language and the admiration for the evolution of words. Definitely a pick for lovers of words but be sure to have some tissues handy!

This spectacular duo does it again with another captivating thriller! They have a way of exceeding my expectation each time in the end with a plot twist I never expect. I not only recommend this book but all four they have written together!

Then She Was Gone | Lisa Jewell
Pickpick

The novel is totally "bizarre," just as Jewell describes it. The haunting tale of a missing child and the carefully constructed jumps from past to present made it difficult to put the book down. Ultimately I found the twists a bit predictable, aside from the very end! I would definitely recommend this if you're up for a mystery.

The Maid | Nita Prose

I really enjoy the depiction of Molly as a simple reminder that we are all unique individuals that just want to be happy in life. This mystersy was quick-paced and the plot unraveled nicely, causing me to not want to put the book down. However, I found the epilogue to be a bit disconnected and wish more could be interwoven throughout the entire story to make the ending seamlessly flow together with the rest of the novel.

As someone that constantly thinks of the creepy crawly what ifs in life, this book really spoke to me. While I find the ending to be a predictable, the story was empowering and gripping. A must read!

This novel was beautifully written! Benedict had me believing I was reading a biographical account of Agatha Christie's life and tragic downfall of her marriage. The pages left me wanting to research intricacies of her life even further and inspired me to pick up my own pen and begin writing!

Verity | Colleen Hoover
Pickpick

This was one of the best thrillers I've read in a while! The suspense had me feeling like I was in the theater watching the latest horror movie. Overall, it was a little too erotic for me, but I did not see the turn coming at the end of the book and would definitely recommend it!

From the beginning, this book was a little hard for me to get into. The ability of the author to instill discomfort and anxiety in her readers is a true measure of her craft, but it was almost off-putting as I found it hard to really stay engaged in the story. About half way through the story really picks up and I couldn't put it down! While I was able to figure out the mastermind behind the tradgey, I didn't really feel the ending was rewarding.

All American Boys | Jason Reynolds, Brendan Kiely
Pickpick

An amazingly relevant book to teach adolescents about social justice. The coauthors seamlessly bring together stories of two teenage boys that I feel are incredibly relatable for some of my own students! A good way to help some students cope with what's going on in the world, find connections to bring themselves into the stories, and spark a dialogue on difficult topics!

Out of My Mind | Sharon M. Draper
Pickpick

Wow! This book is amazing and teaches such valuable lessons for all-- we all have our setbacks and aspects of ourselves that aren't perfect. It's so important to see that people with disabilities may have one aspect of their body that does not work properly, but that does not mean they are not intellectual beings with wants, thoughts, and needs like all individuals. Draper points out that while life might not always be fair, it is not all bad!

This book hooked me from the beginning--by the time I was on to part 2, I couldn't put it down. PART 3 was a bit rushed but brought a surprise turn that left a satisfying ending to the suspenseful tale!

Salt to the Sea | Ruta Sepetys
Pickpick

Wow! It amazes me that there is still so much history that is left in the dark. I had never heard of this ship and even questioned some of my own knowledge of the war while reading this book! The story is very captivating, but the inital switching of character perspectives in each chapter had me starting off slowly. Definitely a great read that I will be adding to my classroom library!

This book took me a little to get hooked, but the way Reid creates her characters has me wishing it were a real band! Truly a great read. Creating the band's songs and including the lyrics at the end of the book was a wonderful touch!
