I thought this was a cracking mystery — lots of twists and surprises, and lovely characters to keep things going. Molly is an appealing mix of naive and clever — I‘ve read some reviews that found her oblivious or foolish, but I didn‘t find that at all. She is a straightforward person who thinks others will also be straightforward — and I think she learns throughout the book that this isn‘t so. I‘m not sure about the ending… ⬇️
The main character in this novel is delightful! She is charming, humorous, fully-formed, honest, and just a great character. This book is a murder mystery set in a hotel with a great main character. The rest of the characters weren‘t as impressive, but overall it was heartwarming, interesting, and a very good read.
Very well written but I feel the exploitation of an autistic woman is a bit dark to be labeled a cozy mystery. I felt for Molly and, though I think the book was intended to be heartwarming, it made me sad because I know that many people on the spectrum in real life are victimized because people think they are easy targets. I will read the next book so the author has done a great job creating a protagonist and world to which I want to return.
This book has been on my TBR forever it seems. It was a quick, good read. It‘s a “who done it” which I don‘t usually like-but this was a good one! I wasn‘t sure that I liked the way that the main character was portrayed at first, but I understand why it was written the way it was, especially at the end. I‘m glad I finally read this book. I understand that there are more in this series which I‘ll most likely read.
Took myself on a little mid-chore/errand lunch date and if there‘s a bakery next to the brewery, you might as well get dessert and keep the break going, right?!
I started this today and was enjoying it, but after a while it almost felt like the author was making fun of Molly, making her just TOO gullible and oblivious… I dunno but I put it aside and I‘m reading my creepy BOTM instead (and I eyed the attic hatch pretty hard just now 😅)
I really liked the mystery of this and the unique perspective of the unfolding story from the eyes of Molly. Molly is socially awkward and thinks differently than others; this at times makes for some uncomfortable situations. However, it‘s the treatment of Molly by everyone else for most of the book that had me put the book down after a few chapters and walk away for a bit. Her treatment hit a bit too close to home for me. ⬇️⬇️⬇️
⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ 1/2
This was a delightful book, and I love Molly.
But, I got so mad at how Molly was treated her whole life.
I look forward to reading book 2.

You are NOT seeing double. I swear that Harpy (left) and Hades (right) are conspiring to not let me get any reading in today. Because I find it very hard to believe that the hardcover is a comfortable pillow.😹

⭐️⭐️⭐️a quirky little who done it to pass the time between tomes. Nothing too serious or heavy. I enjoyed Molly, the maid. But this was riddled with stereotypes making it a little@less interesting in terms of characters. Except Molly.
Rien de tel pour profiter d'une soirée, qu'apprécier la quiétude du silence quand tout le monde est couché, en savourant une délicieuse histoire de meurtre avec un bon thé...
I read this for book club and enjoyed it. Being in Molly's mind was certainly interesting but I will say I got to the end and went "wait...what?" I'm still processing how I feel about the ending, but I liked the writing and would read this author again. ?
As a mystery the book is good. As a book showing the world through the eyes of Molly, it‘s great. Molly reminded me of Eleanor Oliphant in many ways. Plenty of characters to love and loathe in this one.

This one hasn't been feeling so well. Lots of rest and reading for us right now. 🤓🐶 #SabrinatheGreat

I haven‘t read this one but it was one of the novels classified as neurodivergent mentioned in GR. another book from my physical tbr😳

Delightful! You won‘t soon forget the main character-Molly. Her inability to see evil drives the plot. You will enjoy- I sure did.
I enjoyed this mix of murder mystery and feel-good up-lit. It has Eleanor Oliohant vibes with a socially awkward protagonist, but I found her annoying at times and the tone a little sentimental or almost condescending (to her) and she‘s portrayed as quite clueless. But overall an engaging feel-good story, the uplit part works better than the whodunnit given we know the culprits early on (notwithstanding the late twist). Love a matching bookmark!
As a mystery, this book is okay. As 280+ pages with Molly the maid, it is absolutely fantastic. I enjoyed seeing the world through Molly‘s eyes and thought that she was a wonderfully entertaining character, more than enough reason to keep reading to the end. She‘s also all the reason I need to read the sequel as well. Found family, murder, mystery, and a great cast of characters make for an enjoyable read.
Finished this morning ahead of Wednesday book club meeting. Endearing MC, interesting story even if it tied up a bit too neatly. Though there was a sequel published recently, I‘m content to let the story sit where it is.
As you see, I have plenty of #serieslove2024 and this is just the mysteries! It doesn‘t even include three books coming out this year that don‘t have covers yet.
Center square is also on my #readorbail list so it will be first.
We are under a winter weather advisory which means I have plenty of reason to stay inside and start a new book… It‘s mystery and murder for today‘s reading.
3️⃣ I saw this was recommended on Goodreads so giving it a go. Update - A good mystery and I liked Molly, but I felt the ending was a bit of a let down, and didn‘t live up to the other twists in the story. I would still read more by this author though.
I enjoyed this cozy mystery featuring Molly the Maid. It was fun and charming with great characters. I liked all the twists and turns, though I have to admit that some of the surprises revealed at the end made the story a bit implausible.
I chose this book for the “published in 2022“ prompt of #CloakAndDaggerChristmas, though I didn't quite finish by Dec. 25.. @Ruthiella

Oh how I loved this book! It‘s wonderful to see a main character who I would say is on the spectrum and who struggles socially. I could relate to her in some ways. It was a good mystery too. I just really enjoyed the writing and storytelling! Florence Pugh is set to star in the film adaptation I believe. I can‘t wait until it‘s brought to the big screen! Just read this book; you will fall in love with Molly the Maid!
Fun and quirky murder mystery in a boutique hotel and starring a neurodivergent maid. I didn‘t expect the final twist to the story, which is good- but also thought the MC was possibly a bit cliche. Still was an enjoyable way to audiopuzzle away the afternoon.
I had mixed feelings about this one.
I liked that the author had written as someone Neurodiverse, however, it was like she had Googled autism traits and made the main character have every single one.
I didn't see the twist coming at the end. I'd say this was a firm 3 ⭐️
There is so much wrong with this book.
The neurodiversity rep is irresponsible and, frankly, a bit insulting. Molly the Maid doesn't feel like an actual person so much as a bunch of autistic clichés cobbled together with a dose of excessive perkiness.
There was a murder mystery buried somewhere, but we aren't really given any reason to care about it.
Irritating.
⭐️⭐️
This was an interesting read with a twist or two along the way. The plot is a steady burn to an ending you could see coming but was so cleverly executed. Molly isnt the most likeable character to begin with but as you learn her story, you do start to feel for her and by the end I really liked her. The mystery itself was good though I had just about figured it out. A great mystery though. 3*
This was an enjoyable and entertaining listen. I cringed for Molly through many events in the first half and agree with some reviewers that the second half went a bit too quickly. I appreciated the found family aspect. I‘m still a bit torn on the epilogue, but the story kept me intrigued.

This book had more twists in it than I was expecting. I liked Molly and kept getting angry at the people taking advantage of her naivety, but she turned out much smarter than she seemed. I wasn't expecting there to be a found family aspect to it. I look forward to the next book. Lauren Ambrose was a great narrator.
