Soulless | Gail Carriger

I got lost down the rabbit hole that is fanfiction. I love reading but sometimes (Most of the time) it's too much for me to get emotionally invested in another fictional character. So I always end up turning back to books I've read before because it seems safer. I'm trying to get better.....I'm rereading Soulless for the third time this year but I am trying. Does anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions? #readerproblem #help #suggestions

Not my favorite of the series. As I've said before I don't enjoy love triangles. This book seemed to be more of a placeholder -a way for the story to move along- without having too much of a plot of its own. Not to say I think you can skip this book as it does have a surplus of character development.

1. Wouldn't really want to bring back any decade. Too many problems with all of them. I wouldn't mind having the peace that comes from childhood and the belief that the adults around me knew what they were doing.
2. Depends in my mood
3. Younger
4. Nope

Finished the audiobook in a day. The only thing that detracted from the book from me personally is that I have a dislike of love triangles. I know that pretty common in YA but it's just not my cup of tea. This book nearly hinted at one but I get the feeling that it'll be a bigger deal later in the series. In spite of all of that it was still a really fun read. 🍵

After reading the Parasol Protectorate series this book can be a little bit difficult to get into due to expectations. That being said it is a good book in its own right and the peak you get into characters that show up in the protectorate books as their younger selves helps to flesh out secondary characters.

I'm absolutely obsessed with Gail Carriger's books. Highly recommend to anyone who likes Victorian Englang, steampunk, Vampires/Werewolves, or Tea. 🍵 #finishingschool

wanderinglynn I didn‘t enjoy this series as much as I enjoyed her Parasol Protectorate series. But I think I just really liked how independent and unique Alexa is. And welcome to Litsy! 👋🏻 6y
Kinda_Crazy I read the Parasol Protectorate series first and I am having a harder time delving into this series as much as I did the other. I think the problem I'm having is that the main characters are so different so it's taking me a moment to wrap my head around it. But I love Gail Carriger's writing style and I'm trying to read all of her books in the next few months. Thank you all for the welcome!! 6y
