Reading with Atticus ❤️
Lockwood's memoir of life as a Catholic Priest's daughter is hilarious, insightful, emotional and engaging. I laughed out loud and learned so much.

Getting in some reading while waiting for my BF to join me for lunch.
This novel is so unconventional and strange but explains grief in a way I've never seen before. This experimental work of fiction is heartbreaking and comforting at the same time.
First of all, I should've saved this book for winter. All the snow and cold based imagery fell flat as I sat by the pool on a hot July day. But I liked the characters, and the fact that Mulhauser kept everyone in a gray area - no one was completely good or bad. I was expecting a thriller, it was more than that but not quite enough for me if that makes sense.
This is the most important book of the year, honestly it is probably the most important book in a decade. Thomas gives the Black Lives Matter movement a voice in Starr Carter and gives a realistic and unapologetic portrait of the current epidemic of black men losing their lives to police officers in America. A must read.
"I didn't know a dead person could be charged in his own murder, you know?"
"He's been a cop for as long as Khalil was alive, and I wonder if in some sick twist of fate Khalil was only born for this man to kill." This quote hit me real deep.
OMG my heart is so full right now. My Summer Santa went above and beyond and sent me the most heartfelt and amazing package! Not only did a get some coveted picks from my TBR but other amazing picks, amazing Bookish goodies and horse pictures and more! Thank you so much Jess, I am at a loss for words on how thankful I am.
It's here!!! I can't wait to open this bad boy! #summersantagoespostal #litsybookexchange #summersolstice
While Girl On The Train was more suspenseful, this novel went deeper into human nature and an exploration of women's psyche.
I found this book to be very entertaining and engaging. I personally think it leans more toward a commentary on sexual harassment than being about Startup culture but I enjoyed it.
I'll be honest, I wasn't wowed by the #botm books this month. A Million Junes is way outside my wheelhouse but I decided to give it a shot and I've heard good things about the David Sedaris book as an add on.
This story is is fascinating and heartbreaking. Such an important book on this ugly part of American history.
I found this thriller to be a great page turner, and I love an unlikeable but fascinating cast of characters - but something just didn't work for me. The ending wasn't satisfying and there is an extremely darkness addressed with sardonic humor that didn't quite work.
This book is a powerful exploration on grief and resilience. Sandberg weaves her personal street of losing her husband in with research on loss and resilience. I personally found the narrative more compelling but this is a great book on the subject of grief.
Zentner has outdone himself with this masterpiece on grief and guilt. Carver Briggs lost his three best friends in a car accident that he believes he caused. He wades through grief, retribution, anxiety and depression. This book doesn't skate over a tough issue, it dives deep and is so real and raw. #LitsyAtoZ
All the hype over this book is completely warranted. This book is funny, heart-wrenching, entertaining and exciting. Nancy Wu is a fantastic narrator. #LitsyAtoZ
How amazing is this book? I don't think it could be more amazing. Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is my new hero. Everyone shoud read this book.
This was a very enlightening and entertaining read (in my case listen). Mastromonaco weaves fascinating stories about working in the White House in with entertaining and funny personal anecdotes. Above all she gives great advice to anyone in the workforce.
"There was something immodest about her modesty: it announced itself."
That ending though. I theorized the whole time but I was so wrong.
Beautifully haunting. A very timely novel written in gorgeous prose.
Another amazing month of selections at #botm. Startup has been on my TBR all year, and after reading the synopsis of these two, I had to add them.
Noah brings a fascinating look into his childhood in South Africa. He is funny, poignant and entertaining. It did jump around and made it a bit difficult to follow for the time jumps but it was really enjoyable.
Powerful, ruthless, jealous Serena Pemberton leads her husbands logging company in the mountains of North Carolina in the 1930s. She won't let anything or anyone stand in the way of her ambition. An iconic villain in American Lit. #LitsyAtoZ
I've officially finished my first audiobook. It took me a little while to adjust to the narrator's accent but I got roped in pretty quick. A good juicy mystery with a lot of great commentary on relationships, parenting, and domestic violence.
I'm kind of in awe of this book. Start reading it for the deep dive into the fascinating world of Indy animation, stay for the gorgeous, epic female friendship. An amazing novel.
I love the name of this chapter. I went to college in Louisville and it's still my favorite city.
Whenever I want to read I give Atticus a bone to keep him busy. It's the only way I can get beyond 2 pages without telling "drop that!" ?
My #BOTM shipment came yesterday! I'm so excited, but also a little panicked. I'm so behind, my TBR is getting out of control 😱
I really enjoyed this story surrounding a community family project. A fascinating concept bringing to life the "it takes a village to raise a child" saying. I did feel that the front half of the book was much stronger than the last half.
Touring Wild Turkey today and came across Gonzo! ❤🥃
