so-so3.5 stars for me but not quite 4 because the pacing for me was off. I know that this is a two book series and I felt that maybe it was slow due to how much she tried to cram in. What I loved was the setting and the time period. The Romeo and Juliet of it all was clever and kinda gave a “west side story” vibe as well. End in a cliffhanger one I‘m actually willing to pick up book two.

Update and revised goals.
1. I am happy to say that I am quickly catching up with #BibleBuddyRead. 😃
2. I know our #LMPBC round 14 group is a bit behind, but I got “These Violent Delights“ in the mail this week & and am scrapping “The Proposal“ for a while.
3. I am happy to say that I am over half done with “Forever Pucked“, maybe will even finish it before weeks end.

so-soThis was just so-so for me I liked that the author gives you a glimpse into Shanghai China in the 1920 and the Romeo and Juliet retelling it creatively revolves around two rival gangs , I didn‘t mind the scifi element, I think it lays out a good story but because it was the first book in a two book series it just dragged for me I think I will read the second book and hopefully enjoy it more

so-soI loved the setting of 1920s China and the author‘s efforts to make the city feel real to the reader but I didn‘t care for the monster plot or the main characters really or the writing style. Still, a great first novel with good observations about colonialism and identity, so I‘ll look out for what she publishes next.
I am reading, but I‘m really awful at posting these days. I had my booster last night, so most of my day is going to be spent with a heating pad and I this book my daughter bought me for Christmas. And I‘m really going to try to post more.
