I enjoyed reading Florence Adler Swims Forever. It‘s a touch away from my usual, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I have a few small complaints. This is only my taste.
If only the ending could have been more drawn out and not so subtle! This book was also a lot more time consuming for me to read. Maybe since it was not my usual, I just wasn‘t as interested.

The best part of this book are how fleshed out each and every character is!! Read it!!

I loved Beanland‘s sophomore book, so I knew I needed to go back and read her debut, and I really liked this as well. It centers on a tragedy and how that affects various members of the family and those in their orbit, while looking at antisemitism leading into WWII. Quite sad, but a good read.

Tragedy strikes a family, bringing decisions to hide the truth and pulling the family into an elaborate web of secret-keeping and lies. It was so so. Slow to read and I really didn't care about any of the characters. 2 stars.

Finished my first #bookspin for January 22. I am so glad for the nudge to pick up this beauty. It made me think, as a Mom how far would you go to protect your child and are family secrets sometimes justifiable. 5/5

First time author. A story that the author based on true happenings in her family. The tragic death of a daughter causes a family to hide secrets from each other and has them trying to understand the Jewish struggle in America and over in Germany when people were still not sure of Hitler‘s true plan. Set in Atlantic City, great characters and allows you to feel how family members protect the ones that they love from the truth. Great story.

Based on a true story which author explains at the end of the book. HF set in 1934, we will see general view of what was happing around Jewish people before the war. The story is about how the Adler family manage/cope with the tragedy of Florence‘s death, how this tragedy affects Adlers family. It was a beautiful novel but sad. 4⭐️

I enjoyed this book a lot. The character dies in the 1st chapter and the entire story is told from the viewpoint of 7 other characters as they all try to keep the death a secret from the character‘s pregnant sister until after she delivers a healthy baby. It is actually based on a true story in the author‘s family. It takes place in the summer of 1934 in Atlantic City so it is a good summer beach book.

Seems to have good reviews for a light summer read 😁

This was quite the story based on a true story. Well written. I was able to read it in about half a day.

Esther craved an empty house and, more than anything, the chance to be alone with her grief 🏊🏼‍♀️

I am still processing this book, as I just finished it. Such a good book. I read this in about a day as it moves at a good pace. So many people to care about in this book. The author does a great job in making you know them and care about them. ❤️

What a great story! I read this book in the course of one day, I couldn't put it down.
Florence has a goal to swim the English Channel, but tragedy strikes. The story continues in the voices of the people who love her. Seven year old Gussie is a sweetheart. Her sister Fannie is bedfast awaiting her baby,⬇️

Book 103 A unique, good novel set in Atlantic City in the '40's. Told from the perspective of various members of a family, the title is misleading but multifaceted. Theme of secret-keeping in families, how they hurt and protect those we love. Background themes relating to the Jewish experience during WWII, immigration into the United States, gender roles, and briefly sexuality. Worth the read, and I look forward to more by Beanland.

Nah, this one didn't do a thing for me. 🙁

And I could not have chosen a better book. I grew up hearing stories about my father‘s childhood summers on the NJ shore & then years later my own summers were spent in Atlantic City. This book was historically accurate & downright believable. Rachel Beanland captured the time & place so authentically. The multi cast narration was wonderful. A perfect summer read🏖 Shoutout to Steel Pier 🎡🎠🎢

Starting a new book tonight. I‘m loving the 1930s setting, the Adler family, and wishing I was able to get to know Florence for more than a few pages.

Gorgeous cover sounds like a family saga a book I sink into.Really excited to enter their world and escape our world for awhile,

I have to say I wasn‘t a huge fan of this one and I really can‘t put my finger on it. Although the premise was interesting I simply couldn‘t easily keep myself engaged.
