This book was so well done that I'm questioning all my other five star reviews. This reset the bar for an incredibly well written, creepy AF horror story.

Who knew sand could be so creepy? A very effective haunted house book. Slightly annoyed by the "magical Black women" trope except she really was a great character.

So creepy and a bit gory plus some horrific humans-turned-monsters. One of those Sheryl Jackson-esque horrors where you don't quite get everything wrapped up for you. It's unsettling but thought-provoking, this book will stay with you for a while after you finish. Great character development, amazing world building (wear a sweater, it'll make you cold) and a riveting play on the quarantine trope.

This was a delightfully creepy story that I devoured. Not so scary that I couldn't read it at night but seriously messes with your head.

I love this book. It's not about a digital detox, it's about how your attention is being commodified and the best way to take it back. It's about the philosophy of real life community versus online yelling. It's not a guilt trip and it doesn't make you feel like you're bad if you still use social media, but it gives you ideas about how to balance your online presence with real people because that's the only way things really change and grow.

Emilymdxn I loved this one too! 5y
batsy Nice review! I found it a really rewarding read. Lots to think about. 5y

Fascinating to learn about deathcare around the world. I wanted more, I'm sure there are other stories from other cultures to tell.

CampbellTaraL Oh wow, this sounds a bit more light hearted than some of the other books I've read on this topic. I'll have to check it out! 6y
LizzieLou It is surprisingly upbeat and optimistic for being all about death. I really enjoyed her commentary. 6y

I resolved to read poetry this year and man, I picked a great place to start. I'm glad this is assigned reading, I might have to buy it to read again. People need to work so much harder to dismantle our racist society. We need to read these books so we see what consequences our actions have.

CampbellTaraL A powerful book, and so important! 6y
UnabridgedPod That book is so amazing! My husband and I saw Rankine at the National Book Festival a few years ago—she read from Citizen, and hearing her read her poetry was so powerful. 6y

Cleared up a little, opened up new questions, in true Twin Peaks form. I'd love to see a new series that centers on the story of Diane.
