It Can't Happen Here | Sinclair Lewis

I'm not exactly sure how to rate this book. I wasn't in love with the story but it feels too relevant to rate as so so. The political climate described in this book felt eerily similar to America's current political climate. I would recommend reading this to anyone concerned with the direction that the US is heading.

I had fun reading this book. I love the idea of the library and the magical world that exist in it. It was fast paced and kept me turning pages. I do wish that the author had spent a little more time on developing the characters. Even so, I found this book very enjoyable and am planning on reading the rest of the series.

I loved this book! Once I started reading it I had a hard time putting it down. I switched back and forth between reading and listening. The narration was very well done. I did feel like the ending was a little abrupt, but it was still a great winter read.

litsybookclub Litsy Book Club will be discussing this book live this Sunday at 5pm ET. There will also be online discussions May 22 - 26. We'd love to have you join us! 7y

I've read this book a few times on my Kindle. I loved it so much that I decided I needed a physical copy.

I enjoyed reading this book very much. The first third if it reads like an autobiography. The last two thirds focuses on politics. It definitely made me more aware of social and economic issues that I hadn't given a lot of thought to before.

In this chapter we saw the promise that Hermione will probably be a very good student and we also saw the promise that Professor Snape will probably be making a lot of problems for Harry.

#hpchapteraday chapter 5
Today's theme is being a stranger. Not only does Harry not fit in to the muggle world, the wizarding world is a stranger to him. He is an important figure in wizarding history but he knows almost nothing about it. At this point in the story Harry must feel like a stranger no matter where he goes.

Orphan Train: A Novel | Christina Baker Kline
Mehso-so

This book had a nice story. It started off strong but became a little slow in the middle. I liked it but didn't love it. 3.5/ ⭐

Beckys_Books The rest of my book club loved this and I just really didn't care for it all that much. That's one of the things I love about book club though. 7y
Maggie2 @Beckys_Books That is the nice thing about book clubs. I love reading things that I wouldn't necessarily pick myself. A friend loaned this book to me otherwise I may never have gotten around to reading it. 7y

I just finished chapter 4 and today's theme is generosity. Hagrid is the first person who has shown Harry any generosity. He brings Harry his first real birthday present, fixes starving Harry food, and gives Harry valuable information about himself and his family.

This is a collection of heartbreaking poetry written by a person who has had a difficult life. By the time I finished the book I felt like Daley- Ward had told me the storey of her life. Overall, I would say that it is a beautiful read that broke my heart with each poem.

"I believe in ghosts. They're the ones who haunt us, the ones who left us behind. Many times in my life I have felt them around me, observing, witnessing, when no one in the living world knew or cared what happened."
I just started reading Orphan Train and I'm already loving it.

I just finished chapter two of the #hpchapteraday challenge. Today's theme is loneliness. Poor Harry! He lives in a house where everyone despises him. He has no friends or really anybody to have any sort of closeness with. When he asks questions about the parents he can't remember, he is given short, unsatisfactory answers and told not to ask questions. It really is easy to see how loneliness has impacted most of his early life.

I'm only one chapter in but I'm already hooked. This is already looking like it may be one of the better books that I have read in a while. It's a good thing I don't have to work tomorrow because this may turn into an all nighter.😁😁😁

This, like all of the other work that I have read by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, is beautifully written. I found myself thinking of the characters while I was going about my daily activities and was constantly looking forward to my next opportunity to read it. I thoroughly enjoyed it the whole way through. However, towards the end of the book there were some racist and pedophilic themes that did make me uncomfortable. I rate it 4.5 stars.

BarbaraTheBibliophage I loved it years ago and plan to re-read this year for some reading challenges. 7y
