Wild. Guess what happened.
I decided instead of spending hours contemplating if the book I chose was the one I wanted to read next, I made the decision to read two books!
Well, technically this one is going to be read to me but, I'm still creating the movie in my head! I get addicted to books easily so; I hope this doesn't cause 2x the heartbreak when they're over.

I'm new here, and I've been trying to update my profile (what I've read/want to read). I spend hours browsing books and when I've gotten a stack I need to start reading.. I can't decide! I usually get so indecisive that I just start looking for more books ?.
Now that I have Litsy to pressure me, I think I'll finally start with "Before I Let Go" by Marieke Ninjkamp ??‍♀️

Don't let “self-help“ steer you away from this book. Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) is my favorite technique and Russ Harris is one of my favorite ACT authors. This book covers many different forms of grief, loss, crisis, and how to build self-compassion.

Very helpful tools that go against the grain of “typical“ forms of therapy.

This series was one of my favorites as a kid, and I still own the books today. They are creative, funny, quirky, and some have really cool messages intertwined.
Definitely recommend, especially if you have children or you grew up in the 90's and have not read it yet (I don't know how that could have happened, but I try not to judge)

Whew, the nostalgia. I had been looking for this book for a while but couldn't remember the title. Obviously, I found it, read it in less than 24 hours, and I may just read it again at some point.
The plot is both unique and similar, close to “IT,“ rumors of terror in a town, no one believes, and kids uncover the secret. It's a creepy book, an adolescent would enjoy this way more, but you know, nostalgia bias.

Joe Chianakas is phenomenal. I received the “Rabit in Red“ book in a horror box subscription a while back, and
I Fell. In. Love
with the whole series after that. My impulse for this book was to jump right to the Rabit in Red story, but I enjoyed every one of these.
Highly recommend if you are a horror/thriller fan.

This book had a lot of potential. Amazon claims this is teachers pick for K-8; disregard that. There are references to domestic and sexual violence, including scenes of r*pe, killing sex workers, etc. Do not recommend for anyone under 16.
In other news, it was not surprising, no plot twists, nothing exciting or different. It was very frustrating at times as well but if you want to give it a try, I won't spoil it.

I believe this book is a good foundation. People do have different ways of expressing and wants when receiving affection. I don't think this is the holy grail, but it does open opportunities for dialogue between partners.
The issue is this field is never black and white, so I would invite you to read this with the idea to pull great suggestions vs. the end all be all. Incorporating this with attachment style would be helpful.

This book is great. It is a combination of stories, point of view, and research-based information from a mental health professional.
Bruce Perry is legit, and this was an awesome read for me.
If you are looking to gain a better understanding of trauma, childhood development, and destigmatizing mental health, this is definitely one to add to your stack.

My Jack Skellington Christmas town has been tainted by zombie-children and disturbing men.
I went book before show and so glad I did. Books are always better. There are many elements, encompassing a lot of what we love about horror. The characters are easy to attach to, and I encountered a lot of “whaaaat?“ moments, in a good way.
Overall good book. Recommend.

This book is okay - I'd still like to read the second one and see how it turns out.
I like the concept of the group they call the "haters," I am a big zombie/apocalypse girl so it was appealing.
The main character, I had a hard time appreciating. He is very miserable. His pessimism was irritating at times, but the book is still exciting and violent and all of the other qualities that would make someone tilt their head at me with concern.

My all-time favorite Stephen King book, forever. My heart was taken by Pennywise a long time ago and Bill Skarsgard reignited the flame in 2017.

I read this book as a child and despite my efforts to be anything but a scaredy cat, I remember putting the book in the freezer each time I closed the book for the day.

This book is absolutely horrifying in the best way. King is a G.O.A.T and I appreciate whatever goes on in his attic.

I got this book in a horror box subscription a few years back. Imagine Willy Wonka's Horror factory and Ready Player One had a baby, this book is that baby.

I could not put this book down for one second.
It's an insane experience, especially for horror fans.

The characters are easy to relate to and love, the visualization is easy & the story is awesome. I bought the second book and pre-ordered the 3rd before I finished the first.

This book was... okay. It was a cup of tolerable tea.

The story is pretty tragic, it was difficult to keep track of which wife was married to which husband, who's kid belonged to which family, etc. It took a lot more effort than I wanted to spend.

It addresses gun violence, LGBTQ+ youth trauma, and relationship drama (least favorite part).

These parents had a lotttttt of drama.

Overall, it was alright, I would not read it a second time.

There was potential for the book to be better, but I did enjoy reading it. I think I finished it in under 24 hours, which I either do because I'm really into the book or because I have a problem task switching, and this book was definitely an "I'm really into the book" situation.

It's pretty intense for this style of read and I did enjoy that it took place in a small amount of time from different perspectives.
