“We complain about life so endlessly and so bitterly, and yet we cling to it so dearly? Surely that makes no sense?”
“We complain about life so endlessly and so bitterly, and yet we cling to it so dearly? Surely that makes no sense?”
“Days of death are days when we weigh our relationship with love in our bare hands. Days when we remember what has gone, and fear what is to come. The joy love brings, and the price we pay. When we give thanks but also pray for mercy.”
“Everyone who dies is alive. We call people “dead“ because we need a word for it, but “dead“ just means that time has stopped moving forward for that person? You understand? No one dies, not really.”
“We think time travels forward, marches on in a straight line, and so we hurry alongside it to keep up. Hurry, hurry, mustn‘t fall behind. But it doesn‘t, you see. Time just swirls around us. Everything is always present. The things we‘ve done, the people we‘ve loved, the people we‘ve hurt, they‘re all still here.”
“They say that time softens the pain, but that‘s a fairy tale. Who would ever love again if anyone actually told the truth?“
“I know from experience that grief rides alone.”
“But, however much life teaches you that nothing lasts, it is still a shock when it disappears.“
The writing made characters feel distant. At the same time I have mixed feelings about the writing - I found several amazing phrases and wrote down so many quotes.
This was pretty heavy book, but I think this was meant to be like that.
I didn't find the plot super interesting: part 1 was so different compared with part 2. It was hard to see where the story was going or why. And that made it feel like the story was dragging.
“Maybe that‘s what we‘re all doing here. Alive long enough to get that when we die it‘s home we‘re going back to, and that we came here to know that when we die it isn‘t an end but a return.”
“There is a kind of magic dogs can achieve with their innocence, their saying yes to everything and feeling so home to you so fast, and a power in the way they need you.”
I still like the characters, they are really adorable. I could have spent more time with them.
The book was cozy, but the mystery was a bit incoherent. Some things were also unbelievable.
Fun & light read.
“But with things that trick you, it‘s that you never know you‘re being tricked while you‘re being tricked, that‘s what is tricky.”
“This is the thing. You don't know what will happen to you. Everything is one way, and you think you know what that means, and then one day you come to find out that no: THIS is what life is like anymore.”
“One thing I want you to understand is that your suffering does not make you special. There‘s a voice inside everyone who suffers that says, no one else has it like this, and so much selfish action comes from listening to that voice.”
“There are many stories for what happens after you die. You become light or become the dead light of stars or you swim the river in the sky or you become the soil in the earth. Angels and demons and ghosts. Anything is a story we tell ourselves about a silence. But stories are for telling after the fact. And the one true fact about the afterlife is that nothing comes from there. Everything goes there.”
“Know that it was always true that you were the only one seeing the world the way you were seeing the world.“
I am reading these books this weekend, two are buddy reads and one is for continuing the series I have started years ago 😃

“Stories do more than comfort. They take you away and bring you back better made.“
I loved that Eva felt so realistic, not flawless. I adored her relationship with her daughter, they had several fun conversations. Cece was a hilarious secondary character.
This was easy to read, pretty light story. Romance was cute.
The last part of the book wasn't as strong as the beginning. There was some unnecessary drama, nothing major, but I personally just hate miscommunication.
“Long ago, she'd learned that life could be bitterly disappointing if allowed. There were blows and stumbles, but your job was to stay interested in the world.”
“Girls are given the weight of the world, but nowhere to put it down.”
August was relatable and I loved her character arc. She was first introvert without friends but ended up living with her found family. I also loved secondary characters.
I was a bit surprised when I noticed how this could be a sci-fi book but I think I just enjoyed this more like this. I love mysteries.
This was pretty predictable first but I have to say I was curious about the ending.
I enjoyed this more than I had expected.
Indu was a relatable characters, I think this is a book for everyone who ever has felt like they wouldn't belong. Characters weren't otherwise really fleshed out.
This was a light & cute story but had many things to ponder. I loved that.
“Maybe belonging is just caring about someone. And you don't have to understand someone to do that.”
“You can't be happy if you're caught up in what other people think. Ack! 'Cause then you won't be able to see what makes you happy, you know?“
“Her whole life, the gnaw of anxiety has made people opaque to her. No matter how well she knows someone, no matter the logical patterns, no matter how many allowances she knows someone might make for her—that bone-deep fear of rejection has always made it impossible for her to see any of it. It frosts over the glass.“
A week ago I did a leap of faith. I visited a neighboring country and our family was bigger after that. Let me introduce to you... TENGIL. Smooth collies are pretty rare here, even rarer if you want to give home for an adult who is seeking their forever home. This guy had already tried one home unsuccesfully and had been searching his family for months. I had to take a risk.
You shared my sorrow when I lost Hugo, wanted to share this with you.
“It's easy to know who you are when you chose once and never changed your mind.”
Characters were super lovable ❤️ I loved them so much :)
Atmosphere was cozy and the plot was so much better than in the prequel. This was much better structured.
I had a good time with this one!
“I am learning that it is important to stop sometimes, and just have a drink and a gossip with friends, even as corpses start to pile up around you. Which they have been doing a lot recently.
It's a balancing act, of course, but, by and large, the corpses will still be there in the morning, and you mustn't let it spoil your Domino's.“

@KadaGul 🥰
Characters were super relatable! These couples were something else 😄
This book was really fun and entertaining, cozy but there were some darker themes too.
Some things were a bit predictable but that wasn't a big deal - things went fast forward and things I had seen coming were quickly revealed. I am trying to say that predictable things weren't “big surprises“ that were revealed at the end but some minor ones.

Will with his deep philosophical thoughts was sometimes a bit much 😄 Sophie was a fun character, but I am not sure if any of the characters stole my heart.
A dystopian story that wasn't dark but more optimistic.
Even though I would have loved to have more action I still enjoyed this one as well.
The ending felt quite rushed. There were some pretty unrealistic things happening as well. I still liked the very ending, it was quite satisfying.
I wasn't fan of writing and maybe that left characters a bit distant.
I would have preferred a stronger plot.
This was okay but I didn't love this.
I have always loved Scotland (no wonder I ended up having a Scottish herding dog) so it isn't a big surprise that I love the setting in this book ❤️ And can you believe: there is a Finnish character as well 🤣🤣
Coffee & starting a new book by an almost local author. Continuing the series because I love to read about historical life in the same area where I am living.
I wish you all have an awesome day ❤️
I still liked the Millie, even though I wasn't super thrilled that this book took place 10 years later to the second book.
I was quite disappointed with this book: this wasn't as thrilling as the previous book. Almost nothing happened, chapter after chapter about Millie's life as a mom. The last part was intriguing but this could have been so much shorter without loosing anything important.
I read a Finnish book that was interesting and showed how was life after WW2.
But the writing was too detailed for my liking and the plot was non-existent.
Nevertheless I liked characters but was disappointed how the most intriguing question was never answered.

I am struggling at the moment. I think this Garfield cartoon fits my mood pretty well.
It's almost exactly 6 months from Hugo's death today. It has surprised me how hard this is. He was my best friend, and so big part of my daily life. He was a part of me and being a dog owner was a part of my identity.

I have got this letter some time ago from @ju.ca.no
I got a good chance to post this so I can tell at the same time how I also sent some #LitsyLove today :D Be on the lookout @Sleepswithbooks
Characters were likable but the pacing was off. This was slow but the ending was suddenly super fast and felt rushed. This was okay but didn't feel special.
I got today some #LitsyLove (part 3, still two first parts on their way xD). I also got a Valentine's card earlier ❤️
