TW: Yesterday was the birthday of my best friend who committed suicide. I was walking through the library and stumbled across Cemetery Boys. The quote inside made my heart ache... 💜

This book has me confused. It‘s as if I‘ve been thrust right in the middle of an already established story. Does it get any better? Or at least less confusing??

It took me a while to get into this book. But by the end I was immersed in the author‘s life. Her parents never sent her to school yet she went on to Harvard. This story illustrates the strength it takes to sever yourself from a dysfunctional family, abuse, and restrictive mindset, and to walk single handedly and blindly into the world alone. And to not just survive the abuse, but to soar and succeed in a way almost impossible.

This book touched me so deeply. As someone who can relate to the main character, this book is so important to me. I felt understood by the wider world and comforted to know that others out there are also finding solace in this story. There were moments and words that I wished I could wrap up in a little box and hold with me forever.

It‘s a quick read (or in my case, listen). I felt it was very informative without being repetitive or dense. The author presents lots of good info and tips. I wish I had a physical copy so that I could reference it. I recommend.

As someone who doesn‘t like historical fiction, I was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed this a lot. The best parts are the writing style and characters. It makes me want to read more from this author. I was never bored by the plot but I did get confused by the side character at times. I have to agree with the consensus that the stakes weren‘t that high and things seemed to conveniently work out. But I‘m not mad about it lol. I enjoyed it overall.

Another book I listened to on Libby. I had previously DNF‘d this book years ago and now I regret it. Maybe it‘s cuz I‘m older now. It‘s so good honestly I can‘t do it justice. I was completely captivated and by the story and the world building. The audiobook brought a whole new dimension to it.

Finally finished this book after a long reading slump. It was a great escape for me. It‘s a fun and creative alternate ending to my favorite Disney princess‘s story. I loved the world building and the fleshing out of Aurora‘s character. I enjoyed the darker themes of depression as well. I‘d love to revisit this book in the future and it got me excited for the rest of the twisted tales.

This is very informative and eye opening; and an important book in our world. Even though it‘s a bit repetitive, I‘d recommend the 10th anniversary edition.

⭐️ Not good enough
⭐️ Comparing myself and looking for reassurance
⭐️ Self confidence and self discipline

Meaw_catlady I struggle with comparing myself as well! But I have learned to let this go and recognize that I am Uniquely me and that is beautiful. And the same goes for you! You are you! Right now it can be hard to be mean to ourselves thinking we aren‘t doing enough but honestly it‘s okay to just rest and recharge and grow in self knowledge! I‘m rooting for you! Blessings and light to you! 🖤💛🌕💕 4y
Princess_Alissa @Meaw_catlady Thank you for such a kind comment. I hope you have a wonderful day! 4y

I‘ve been walking daily, some times even twice daily. But I really fell off on my reading... I‘ve just been lazy with that. I‘m feeling in such a slump lately. It‘d be a good thing for me to spend less time on social media.

wanderinglynn Way to go 🙌🏻 and you are not alone on reading. Many of us are struggling to focus. Doing social media blackouts is a good strategy 👍🏻 4y

#BFC28 One Week Check In!
I haven‘t walked everyday because of weather but I have waked most days and sometimes twice in a day. I‘ve been reading everyday. I‘m not sure if I‘ll meet my goal as I‘m not a fast reader but at least I‘m having fun with it!

wanderinglynn Way to go 🙌🏻 And remember, goals are adaptable. So if the weather or life happenings derail you a bit, adapt your goal. Be flexible. 👍🏻 4y

I‘ve recently been getting into The Authenticity Project. In a world full people hiding who they are, this book is breath of fresh air. It makes me reflective on my relationships. How much do people really know about me? How many people -really- know me?

Quarantine is the perfect time to dip into TBR piles. I‘m picking Once Upon a Dream, a Sleeping Beauty retelling that I took a break from a few months ago. I love all things Sleeping Beauty and so far it acts as a great distraction for me!

First Post!
I‘ve had this book on my DNF shelf for years with the intention of completely reading someday. It‘s not that I didn‘t like it. Life happened! But now that I‘m attempting to finish it, I‘m just not sure I can get into it anymore. Years and experiences can change us. I‘m not the same person I was in 2015. I‘ll try to see if I enjoy it. But I may have to just let it go.

ElizaMarie I am interested to find out if you DNF it. It looks really intriguing but I don't know if I should continue to venture into it or not. I have heard so many different review son it. 4y
Princess_Alissa I personally am DNFing it. Parts are just uninteresting to me like the way the romance was done. It reads like the diary of a freshman, which was interesting to me when I was in eighth grade. However, it‘s not relevant to my life now. Some find the writing poetic which I can see. If the themes of grief and starting over from the perspective a teen interest you, go for it! But I decided to DNF it and give it to my girlfriend. 4y
Nute Welcome to Litsy! It‘s a warm and friendly community. I know that you will enjoy yourself here. I‘m looking forward to getting to know you!🙂 4y
Princess_Alissa @Nute Thank you for the warm welcome! 4y
