Book Club read for my yoga studio's book club.
Book Club read for my yoga studio's book club.
Abandoned The Five, started The Only Good Indians.
A perfect February day to curl up with a book.
"The Beauty of the House is immeasurable: its kindness infinite ♾"
I completely stepped out from my usual genres to read this, and I'm very happy I did.
I won't be getting much done today. I'm being completely absorbed by this book, and Olive the 🐈.
If you were a Little House on the Prairie fan growing up, this is a must read. Alison Arngrim is someone I'd drink a pitcher or three of beers with. She is an amazing women who advocated for AIDS patients and abused kids. Far from the Prairie Bitch we loved to hate...
This is gonna be so much fun...
Very intense at times. I liked the story and how it was woven with flashbacks and current times. Thumbs up!
Fabulous and a fun read! I'm reaching out of my comfort zone this year and found this fiction selection randomly. Perfect mix of mystery, murder, and myth!
Ready for the Bookly Read-a-thon.
Anyone else use the Bookly App to track reading 📚?
Picked this one up today from the Library. It has been on my hold list for a while and FINALLY here. Hope it's good!
I've had this on my shelf for a while. 📚
Digging in while waiting for my next library holds.
Well, wasn't the feel good book I was looking for. I went into this book blind, not knowing what it was about. It was a touching and sad story of a tragic event, and a young girl with a pill addiction and PTSD.
Still, a great story, and well told.
I have read other reviews about this book, stating how boring it was. I found it to be everything but boring. Oppression in Tibet is real, and is very much present.
Starting with SPACE as a month reflection.
Creating space for myself.
A deep dive into Tibetan history.
The yoga studio's book club choice - I read this one a long time ago. Reading it again with a group, and Journaling gives a fresh perspective. Its the right time to read this one again.
I'm excited for this one.
As an amateur wildlife photographer, I think this might come in handy for all of my mini adventures.
Completely out of my usual genre.
It grabs you, and enchants you.
Difficult to put down.
Fantastic!
I'm not a huge science fiction fan, but I'm expanding my horizons and giving it a go.
I really wanted to like it.
I really did.
I couldn't get into it.
I couldn't relate to any character.
It took my half the book to figure out what was going on.
Oh well, can't like them all.
My next read from the NYT Best Books of 2020
I loved this book.
I had no idea how this was going to turn out. I was so engaged I finished in 2 days.
I was hoping for it to be a little better, but I have gained insight on how to better interact with coworkers and friends as well. Quick read on behavior, and was still worth the read.
I'm reading the NYT Top Ten Books of 2020, and this was my first on the list.
Sad, intense, and inspiring all at the same time. What an incredible story of this family with 12 children -- 10 are boys -- 6 with schizophrenia.
The study of schizophrenia has been going on for decades with mixed answers and treatments. Mental illness is real, and this book is as real as it gets.
"If bad parenting caused any of these diseases, we'd all be in big, big trouble" - E. Fuller Torrey
I'm reading Growing Things during lunch, and this one at night. It's all about balance, right?
Fantastic so far. Poetically written.
'Tis the time for creepy books!
Going in blind - I have no info about this book, and I like it that way.
Unpopular Opinion: I hate to say it, but I got a little bored.
Strong story through the middle, then I just got tired of it.
So, I'm starting the new King novel.
Not gonna lie, as I felt burned by King before (the ending for Under the Done made me soooo mad)!
I've got high hopes! Tell me it's GREAT please!
Time for something non-fiction
https://armyhistory.org/the-u-s-armys-camel-corps-experiment/
I was super curious about the Camel Corps referred to in this book.
After a little googling, and studying, the whole story seems to make more sense. I see many people dumped out of Inland, and I understand why. I'm on page 150 and its finally starting to come together. The stories don't fit smoothly together, but I still have hope.
At first it was hard to get into. Once you get used to "wild west" (for lack of a better term) slang, it starts to turn into a can't-put-down story.
Just such a beautiful, yet sad book.
Fantastic read so far.
This book was every emotion possible.
Anger, joy, sorrow, hate, fear, sadness, anxiety...
It is an important book. This author makes sure we never forget.
