Glad that I was able to finish this book on the last day of the June. Unexpectedly good one.
Glad that I was able to finish this book on the last day of the June. Unexpectedly good one.
Heard so much praise about this book so read it as soon as I finished the previous book.
The author did a good job telling a story related to the heavy topic in an interesting and inspiring way!!
Such a mixed feeling about this book🤨🤨. No doubt that this book is beautifully written but also that this book is not an easy read (for me at least).
I guess that it requires a lot of concentration which I may not always have.🤪
Such a wonderful coincidence that I read two books about the history of Northern Ireland in a row and in such a perfect order (previous one is The Yellow House). I Love this book very much.
Now I learn the history related to the Cause, partition of the Ireland, the Trouble and the Good Friday Agreement and become a bit obsessive of the history thereof and want to know more about all that!!
Highly recommend!!
Such a enjoyable, beautiful and informative book. This may be the first book I have read about Ireland. Like the description about Ireland from this book “She‘s beautiful on the outside but troubled deep down.”
Also, have to admit the Peaky Blinders” may be one of the factors that I enjoyed this book so much.
Comparing to the two TJR books (Daisy and Hugo), this one is just okay to me😝😝
This book is, like the author says, “a book about people trying to solve problems created by people trying to solve problems.”
I enjoy the knowledge related to Asian carp, pupfish, coral and cane toad. Recommend this book!!
Good book and learned a lot although not sure how much I could remember😅😅
I like the writing style more than the story itself. I like the cover as well!
If you are an attorney and thinking about promoting you or your firm, you may want to read this book to obtain some insight.
A quick and okay read, not a “WOW” one though.
Like what the author says “There is nothing inherently wrong with specialization. We all specialize to one degree or another.” However, we should also stay curious and keep learning to expand our knowledge of different fields.
Like the author‘s advice: “don‘t feel behind; “Compare yourself to yourself yesterday, not to younger people who are not you.”; and
Everyone progresses at a different rate, so don‘t let anyone else make you feel behind.”
Enjoy the journey looking for Father😊
“Like and equal are two entirely different things.”
“For things which are seen are temporal. But things which are not seen are eternal.”
Thought about quitting this book after the Oscar event but then voted against it so I finished this book but did not enjoy it very much.
This is a good lesson that don‘t easily believe in what people say (and write) and don‘t blindly worship someone because of what he/she said because what matters is what they do. Especially no one is flawless. That said thank this book for introducing me the poet “I'd rather see a sermon than hear one any day”.
I am late to the party!! Quite entertaining. The author definitely knows how to present a story.😋😋
4.5 stars out of 5.
This book gives me something to reflect on and provides goods points as to our communication and the way we view others and ourself. My big take from this book is trying not being judgmental to others and myself!!
l always have mixed feeling about manual books, like this one(my own definition)because they can sometimes put me to sleep but sometimes also provide useful and positive advice. That said, I do find this book worth reading!!😛😛
I love surfing although not good at and just a two-hour-once-a-week-surfer so this book had my attention for a while. I relate to those surfing life as described in this book a lot but feel those barbarian days as described in this book unimaginable. I wished I had such surfing life but not sure if I could handle the barbarian days. Maybe I am bias but I like and recommend this book. 🤟🤟😂
Such a beautiful and moving book!! 🥰🥰🥰
Enjoy and love the storyline and brilliant twists. In particular, the author gives each character his/her story which is what the real life is. We all have our own stories.
Highly recommend!! Although I don‘t really understand what “we begin at the end” means. Please share your view of the meaning! Thanks😍😍
This one is between pick and soso
So glad this book introduces me to the remote island and I really want to take a trip to see for myself.
However, for some reason I sometimes felt impatient when reading it.
Had to admit that the beginning made me sleepy and wonder why this book‘s ratings are so high. Then it got better very quickly and I could hardly put it down!!

I get what this book is trying to say and like the message. However, I had trouble getting into the storyline.
This book is between soso and pick to me.
This is a must read book and beyond 5 stars I have to say!!!
It reveals so many issues and aspects in terms of the development of opioids in the US, the reality of a society and legal system work when facing wealthy people, the possibility of the change with the voices from brave people and celebrities etc.
A Must Read!
“At some point it comes down to who can handle the boredom of training everyday.”
I thought that it would be a good idea and good start to read this book in the beginning of 2022. This book indeed offers some useful tips to form a good habit and would definitely benefit readers having such need. That said, I would not say that I enjoy reading this book which, I think, is not really a negative comment on this kind of book. 😅😂
Beautifully written and creative!! I have had this book for a while but did not read it until now. Don‘t know why I held it off probably because of those praises and of this kind of genre not being my usual type.
It turns out this book indeed lives up to the hype and I like it!! Hopefully there would be a movie.

I am aware that this book won Goodreads award in the memoir category which is the reason I looked forward to it. However, this is just not for me, just not. Being an Asian I can relate to the strict discipline of an Asian mother and to some of Asian culture and my country was mentioned in the book, but I just can‘t get into it.
But it is the interesting part of reading books. Everyone has different thoughts on a same book.
I like “A gentleman in Moscow” and I like this book more. So impressed by the author‘s elegant writing style and his way to revive every character. However, this book is not perfect. For example, the last few chapters are not as good as previous and the narrative of the eight year old boy is too matured. That‘s said, over all I still like this book!!🤪🤣
This book made me shed some tears. Based on the three books written by Kristin Hannah I have read, I have to say that she knows how to write the complicate connections between mothers and daughters. However, this is not my favorite of her books I have read. 4 out of 5 stars.
Ordered this book before it was released so received it very quickly in Taiwan. A worthy reading book, no doubt but don‘t expect to know too much about her inner thoughts or upbringing. That said, you get to know more about Germany.
4.5 out of 5 stars because I do want to know more about her inner thoughts and upbringing. Haha, forgive me😛😛
Like and enjoy this book more than I expected.
Like the tenderness and warmth this book conveys even what it talks about is a cruel and sad history. Also, this book brought the memory of Hà Nội I visited to and my plan to travel to Vietnam again back to me. Most importantly, I learned that what Vietnamese have been through is more than the Vietnam War.
“May our planet never see another armed conflict” said the author resonates with me. Recommend!
Quick read. Although some people do not agree that this is poetry i am fine with whatever it is.This book consists of the hurting, the loving, the breaking and the healing.
What touches me most is that “Every time you tell your daughter you yell at her out of love you teach her to confuse anger with kindness which seems like a good idea till she grows up to trust men who hurt her cause they look so much like you” from the hurting.
4 stars out of 5
Like the Nazi comparison and learn something from this book. But redundancy is a problem that I could not say I love this book.
3.5 -4 stars out of 5.
Surprisingly good!! Learn a lot and think a lot!!
Cannot believe this book takes me almost 1 month to finish.
I enjoyed this book but sometimes got lost or had the feeling that why I read this book. I wouldn‘t say that I love this book but I could say I liked it.
I have not yet known how to describe my feeling of this book. Although initially I was not able to get into it, I started to enjoy it since 1/3 of the book. I like it over all but cannot say I love it.
The author‘s note of this book helps me understand this book as I keeps wondering if which part of the content is fictional or not when reading it.
4 or 4.5 stars of 5.
Beyond 5 stars!! Understood and agreed on all of the praise.
Such a loving book!! I enjoyed it very very much. It would be wonderful if there is a movie!!
For a person whose first language is not English, I am so glad learning the word “cerulean” and love it. Such word will be always with me as such book will be.
Asking “what happen to you” instead of “what‘s wrong with you”!!
Reading this books is learning, reflecting, and healing.
Highly recommended! 5 stars for sure!!
First dual biography!! Interesting style! I‘m a big fan of 1984 and Animal Farm and glad to learn the backdrop of them. 4 stars of 5.
This book is somewhere between okay and good. What makes it lean toward good is history learning; what makes it lean toward okay is some of the descriptions of emotion feel artificial.
A historical fiction, in my view, always offer something worth reading.

This book did give me some laughs, but over all is an okay book to me probably except form the last two entries.
I think that I better manage my expectation of the high rating books.
🌟🌟🌟🌟
Although this book is talking about the US legal system, a lot of issues are actually about the nature of human being and can apply to our daily life.
I would not say that this book is interesting. Rather, it is sad that the issues as stated in this book are not new. That said, this is not a doomsday book as stated by the author. So be positive and patient!
As a person not a heavy user of Instagram and not good at tech, it is interesting to know the ideas behind the app design and the evolution of Instagram and also scary to know our habits of using the apps and websites are actually manipulated and are taken to generate unexpected outcome and profit. 4 stars out of 5.
I can relate to the conflicts with mother and the questions about God. However, I like “Homegoing” more than this book. Probably my expectation was too high.
Have had this book for a while and finally got a chance to read it.
Over all,I gave it 4 stars out of 5.
I like all of this book except for the last two chapters which I felt a bit dragging.
I am ashamed to say that I know very little about the play, Hamlet. This book is my first and true peek of Hamlet/Hamnet and happens to be from a mother‘s perspective which I appreciate. This book is a beautifully written although in the beginning I felt there are too many abundant descriptions. But really this is a brilliant book. 4.5 stars out of 5.
This book has sadness, joy, struggle, peace, warm etc.
A quick read and good one!!
If you ignored this book like I did due to the name of this book, that would be your loss as this is a good book. I enjoyed this book very much. This is a brilliant book. 5 stars!!
