What She Left Behind by Ellen Marie Wiseman

Pickpick

4 Stars: I really liked this book and the only reason I don't give it five stars is that, all-in-all, it's pretty sensational and fluffy in nature. The stories of an affair, a few fetishes and a midlife crisis intertwine to make a very scandalous read. I love the way Perrotta writes and while his characters aren't always the most believable, you end up rooting for them throughout the whole ride.

Little Lies | Liane Moriarty
Mehso-so

Like all of Liane Moriarty's books, this one is addicting and keeps you turning the pages. Reading Moriarty is like eating a whole pizza in one sitting- you're not proud of it, but damn it was good. I look forward to reading her next scandalous little novel.

Joanne1 Great analogy!! 8y
Sue Haha, everyone needs to down a heap of junk food every now and then 8y
Liza Brain candy! 8y

Picking this one up after having read most of it a few months ago. I'm a big fan of Perrotta's easy reading and juicy plot lines. Seems perfect for a sunny day in PDX.

EliseWhitmore Shout out to PDX! Where we always have perfect reading weather 😀 8y

Survivor: A Novel | Chuck Palahniuk

I can't believe how annoyed I am at this book. Maybe I just don't get it? It's feeling like one of those movies that is overly confusing and weird but everyone calls it deep and genius instead. What if Palahniuk is just full of shit?

Jerame2999 That is a definite possibility. 8y
Liza I read a bunch of palahniuk in high school and right after, and eventually I decided he was full of shit and just wrote the same book over and over again with slightly different characters and scenarios. 8y
StephTKO I've only ever read one of his books, Damned. And even though the main character was a young girl, I thought the whole thing was pretty ridiculous, self-indulgent male masturbatory bs. The whole experience was one huge eye roll. Frustrating because back when he was popular I bought several of his book to add to TBR where they remain to this day, a decade later. 8y
Arbol I loved Invisible Monsters and liked Fight Club but haven't enjoyed anything since and stopped reading altogether after Choke. They just got tedious. 8y
MagpieBricolage You aren't alone in those feelings! I'm on the "he's full of shit" bandwagon for sure. Pygmy is what did me in permanently on his stuff. 8y

A Little Life: A Novel | Hanya Yanagihara

A Little Life is one of those books that sticks with you for a long time. So much sadness in the pages, there will be times when you cry and then laugh because of how much you've cried. While I wish in the 800+ pages there had been more character development- this is absolutely a worth while reed.

Zelma I agree with you that this is a book that sticks with you. I also wanted more, even after so many pages. I wanted more time with the supporting characters and all of Jude's friends, especially Malcolm. 8y
Yournewfriendsam @Zelma did it also strike you as funnily unrealistic that they were all uber successful in high-level careers? Not that it was at-all a main plot point, but I would have liked to see a more realistic progression of life. 8y

Survivor: A Novel | Chuck Palahniuk

Just started this one, but interested in hearing if anyone else finds Survivor a little long-winded...

This book is bringing back all of the insecurities and absurdity of being a teenage girl. All the feels with this one.

BookBabe Ha! Love this pic! 😁👍🏻 8y
BookBabe Oh, and yes, I concur. 👌🏻 8y
