Purposefully slow & probably intentionally confusing. That just adds layers of complexity. #2019 #bookclub #noveldiscussions #catphotobomb

Meh. Maybe if I hadn't read it was a spin on The Great Gatsby. It isn't. Not even close. #2018 #bookclub #noveldiscussions

A HOOT to read. If you like snark and can suspend your reality a little...worth a read! #2018 #bookclub #noveldiscussions

I love this book for so many reasons. It also makes me sad for nearly as many reasons. #2018 #bookclub #bookworms

Reading a classic while I wait for my car. I feel like I missed some classic tween lit when I jumped from Scholastic bookfair tween books to books like Sweet Valley High to sweet romances.

Just started this. I am annoyed by two things: microchapters & the rough edge of the book. I have a personal dislike of books with unfinished edges. The microchapters make me feel like I am watching a tennis match on 1.5x speed. #2018 #bookclub #noveldiscussions

FINALLY finished the book. Good read. Not really what I was expecting; though I am not sure I can tell you exactly what I expected. #2018 #bookclub #bookworms

Good read. Not super suspenseful; but compelling and worrisome. #2018 #bookclub #noveldiscussions

Surprisingly good book. I liked the alternating POVs because the characters had distinct voices that required little effort to remember. #2018 #bookclub #bookworms

If all war novels could be this good, I would read more of them! A multi-voiced, multi-faceted story about one British village at the beginning of WWII. I'm impressed by how well Ryan was able to weave all the parts into one tight whole. #2018 #bookclub #noveldiscussions

Mostly about the architect's weird child. Guess that isn't such a good title. There's no story here. Just self-absorbed people floating along in their little bubbles. #bookclub #bookworms #2018

Slow paced. Atmospheric. Almost desultory. The slightly made-for-movie wrap up and the unsatisfying end make me stick to three stars. A good; but not great read. #bookclub #noveldiscussions #2018

A total drudge for the first 100ish pages. Then suddenly, something changes & the book is less of a chore until it is actually interesting & then suddenly over.

Eleanor never strikes me as unlikeable. Maybe because I see too much of me (and some of my grandmother) in her sterile, tidy, routine life. She is also never entirely unreliable as a narrator. #bookclub #bookworms #2018

Second Mrs. Hockaday | Susan Rivers

Not my preferred style of writing; in fact I struggled to stay engaged with the story because of the epistolary style. However, my perseverance was well rewarded. Rivers writes a story that is sad, confusing, and offers little happiness; but that is to be expected considering the setting. #bookclub #noveldiscussions #2018

War novels are not my thing. In fact, chic-lit-y war novels are even less my thing. While I wouldn't run out and buy another similar book, Shattuck is gifted in her craft.

There are no mind-blowing secrets. There are no wildly improbable events. This a simple, almost understated, fictional tale of three women tied together by time and circumstance. #bookclub #bookworms #2018 #kindle

I love it. I hate it. I couldn't stop reading when I got a chance to pick it up. Kwan writes well. I will give him that. I think the biggest issue I have is I don‘t want to read about the world‘s 0.001%. #bookclub #noveldiscussions #2018 #bonuscatbutt #catsoflitsy

What happens when the life you have curated for 2 million fans goes down in flames? Slightly cautionary tale. A little heavy-handed in the telling. Interesting enough to read it in one go. #bookclub #bookworms #2018
