The Hangman's Daughter | Oliver Ptzsch, Lee Chadeayne

Overall good story. I LOVE the way the ebook was presented. It had some fantastic colored and moving illustrations in each chapter. My biggest issue with this novel is the name. The daughter is nowhere near a main character. It's just odd. I'm hoping because it was originally written in German that they just scrapped the original title and gave the English speaking world this.🤷 #55 #2019 ##justlikeharrypotterone

julesG Sorry to disappoint, the German title was used (in translation, of course). Probably the title was chosen because books with "daughter of" titles were en vogue. 3d
kricheal @julesG HaHa! I should have actually looked it up before I posted! 3d
Texreader I remember it was a good book! But it sounds like the ebook was much more entertaining 3d

kricheal @Texreader Yes! I wish all ebooks were this way. I got it for free on World book day from Amazon. If you see that on the list when it comes around next time pick it up. 3d
Andrew65 Really enjoyed this one, but title is strange given the story. 3d
Crash As the series goes on it focuses more on the daughter. This book is the into to her character. 3d
youneverarrived I was going to say the same as @crash - as the series goes on she‘s a more prominent character. 2d
kricheal @Crash @youneverarrived oh I see, it's starting to make much more sense now. Thank you 😊 2d

Really enjoyed the book. Loved both Lucy‘s personal story and the pregnancy facts that she presented. I‘m one of the 5% who was born on my due date and my mom also had pre-eclampsia (dr caught it and put my mom on bed rest immediately) and I was an emergency c-section as well. Excellent book. 5⭐️ #2019 #bookreview #graphicnovels #memoir #bookstagram

La verit su Amedeo Consonni | Francesco Recami

First book I read by Francesco Recami and must say: I like It! The story is a little bit too convoluted but all in all the reading is pleasant and keeps the pace all through the book, with few funny parts reflecting the life in what was once the Old MILANO. #2019

Finished this afternoon. While not my favourite book in the series, it does do a lot of set up for the remaining books. 4 1/2 ⭐️ #2019 #bookstgram #bookreview #harrypotter #gobletoffire

Women Talking: A Novel | Miriam Toews

While I found the read to be dense and difficult to follow at times, the discussion with my bookclub on Saturday was fascinating. We barely referenced the book but talked a lot about the marginalization of women in general. 4⭐️ #2019 #bookstagram #bookeview #canadianliterature #litsyatoz #litsyatz2019 #w

Kind of good idea and story but not so easy going while reading it. I don‘t think I‘m going to read others by Simon Morden. #2019

I absolutely loved this book. I loved Eleanor‘s journey to hopefully becoming completely fine. It‘s interesting I read this book as I am struggling with loneliness and depression and anxiety as well. I thank Ms. Honeyman for tackling mental illness in a novel. 5⭐️ #2019 #bookreview #fiction #bookclub #bookstagram

melissajayne And yes I have self-harmed myself when things get rough. While I haven‘t drank myself almost to death, I have punched holes in walls, I have broken things, I have overeaten, I have overspent, and most recently I have purposely bitten on my own forearm (by the way: it left a nasty bruise that is still healing). I have also contemplated suicide, the most recent time being on Sunday. (edited) 3w
melissajayne I am going to a mental health unit tomorrow (Thursday) morning to see what kind of help I can get. 3w
Libby1 @melissajayne - I really hope you find help and comfort today. ❤️ 3w
Megabooks @melissajayne I‘m really glad you‘re getting help. 15 years ago, a friend made me an appointment with her psychiatrist, and it was one of the most positive, life-changing things a friend has done for me ever. I hope you find the right help the first time, but if you don‘t, keep knocking, keep asking because you are strong enough to fight for a good life. Put your whole self into it because that‘s what it takes. 💕💕💕 Sending strength! 3w
Sace So glad you made that appointment! 👏👏👏 And Hugs ❤️ 3w

This was between a so-so and a pick for me. It seemed like all the thriller stuff came right at the end. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this cover though. #54 #2019

Dune | Frank Herbert

Gosh I'm really torn about this book. It's a case of if this book were written present day would it be as well loved? I really liked the mythology presented in Dune and the world building is stunning. I didn't like the idea of Space Muslims. The author seemed like he was taking words like hajj and jihad and twist them from their true meaning. I don't consider myself to be super "woke" or anything like that but I am sensitive at least. #53 #2019

M. Il figlio del secolo | Antonio Scurati

Hard to believe you can make a non fiction story out of such a period of Italy history. Just a few years, from the birth of fascism to Mussolini‘s rise to power, but such an involving storytelling, with a lot of references to actual documents: all together Scurati makes of this a book to fall in love with. #2019
