“With the sun on my face and a dog at my side, I have so much capacity for good.”
THIS BOOK. People. My soul was ripped out of its chest reading it. It tells of a heart torn from understanding whether or not she was in love with her teacher in high school or whether she was continually sexually assaulted by him. Definitely a trigger warning, but worth the difficult read.

The book reminded me too much of Dee Dee Blanchard, but had an interesting twist of what potentially would have happened if her mom had lived instead of being killed. I think it would have been so much better if I wasn‘t a true crime buff 😂

Hands down my favorite book of 2020 so far. It made me feel dark and twisty things and made high school feel more real than most books do 😍

I have to keep reminding myself that quarantine does not mean I have to stay in my apartment 24/7. PRAISE GOD for a dog so I can have a reminder to get out and take care of her so I can take care of myself ❤️

I LOVE THIS BOOK. It felt like taking a seat at the table and seeing the show from its inception to end. For anyone who is a fan of the show this is a 👏🏽 must 👏🏽 read 👏🏽. *also hi this is my face, I work overnights in a hospital so some nights my job is watching patients sleep so they don‘t come to and hurt themselves by accident or on purpose-and they‘re always fun because I get to READ* #survivingcovid

Hoopiefoot How interesting! I never thought of someone needing to do that but it completely makes sense. Stay safe! 4y

Orphan Train: A Novel | Christina Baker Kline

As I read this book I posted updates on my Instagram and found out a friend‘s grandfather was a rider on the orphan train. This book actually has led me to learn more about the history of my state (MN) and how much it played a role in this train.

I finally finished this at 3am in a room in the ICU where I‘m watching over a sleeping patient ❤️ my friends laughed at me when I got this as my BOTM (because I hate romance 😂) but I guess I get the last laugh for finding a romance novel that felt like a life I would actually live.

Holy heck. I just want to crawl inside this book and be with this band. Almost regretfully putting this book down and leaving it behind as I finish, but grateful knowing it will be a book I read again and again.

I‘m not going to lie, the end of the book did make me cry. Kaufman shares about how feminist women (like myself) can be content in their careers and still feel the loneliness that comes from feeling like a failure for not being married or dating. The Bachelor franchise has such a weird hold over many women like me and while I don‘t understand it, this book helped me process it quite a bit.

I don‘t often get to read lazily in the afternoon on a weekend, so I‘m going to cuddle up with my pup and enjoy finishing up Bachelor Nation and Daisy Jones and the Six.

“That‘s the problem with letting the light in-after it‘s been taken away from you, it feels even darker than it was before.”
I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this read. It had a Hunger Games feel to it, but with more depth and complex plotlines. It definitely had a young adult vibe to it, so I‘m surprised it hasn‘t been marketed as such. But it is much more violent and graphic than the Hunger Games...

This was a fun book to read, definitely plot twists and turns that I couldn‘t see coming. As someone who loves suspenseful books, it‘s hard to find those sometimes. A quick read but an enjoyable one, especially if you are looking for an easy read to burn off an afternoon.

You know it‘s going to be a good book when the first page talks about a legal case about a severed head.
But in all seriousness, this book was a blast to read, and was written in a way that pulled me in and didn‘t let me go. A fun read for anyone who is a fan of legal proceedings and true crime, and enough twists to make you need to go to a chiropractor afterwards 😂

Have any of y‘all read Kristin Lavransdatter? It‘s one of my favorite books so I love to gush over it with anyone else who has read it 😂

This book was a blast to read-I tore through it in just a few hours. I am fascinated by the taboo and obscure, so as much as I got the shivers (and a little nauseated at times) I just wanted to keep eating the sentences that Caitlin so bluntly put together into this book. I will definitely be recommending this to friends, especially friends in healthcare as we deal with death often and it weirds a lot of us out.

My goodness, please read this book. This is a book that should never had needed to be printed but was absolutely necessary at this point in time. I definitely had to stop at a few points because of its intensity, so I would just say that those who may have their own history with sexual violence should be aware that this book is graphic and has the potential to be triggering.

I just couldn‘t finish it, and that doesn‘t happen to me often. I guess it‘s a good read if you‘re new to learning about the opioid epidemic, but if you‘ve read a couple of books about it this isn‘t really worth the read-which is disappointing because I just wanted it to be the author‘s narrative which was fascinating enough on its own.

Oh. My. Gosh. If you‘re looking for a book to emotionally destroy you, this is the book for you. I got it as an early release with BOTM, and I read through it in a night because I just could not let Edward be alone. Read this and be prepared with a box of tissues.

MidnightBookGirl Sometimes I do want a book to emotionally destroy me, so adding this to the list!
