Working through my BOTM backlog one book at a time! I‘ve had this one since February 2020. 😅

It took me a long time to finish this one because it just didn‘t keep my attention well enough to devote much time to it at once. I am glad I continued reading it; the ending tied up a lot of loose ends and was satisfying. It‘s told in alternating timelines, past and present, about the trial that changed all the characters‘ lives. The past sections switch between all the jurors, and the present focuses on Maya, the juror who influenced the others.
Wow, I'm so glad I read this book! The mysteries were great, the storytelling and character depth were excellent, and the social commentary was interesting and on point! This is definitely underhyped, and is now one of my favorite mystery books of all time.

Enjoyed this mystery within a mystery. There were a few surprises tossed in at the end that were quite a stretch. But I liked the courtroom/jury room bits.
Absolutely loved this book club pick. A really interesting concept with an imaginative ending
This was a great legal thriller. There were lots of characters, but each one had their backstory and a unique set of motivations. I guessed the solution of one of the mysteries, but the other one surprised me. Also, what the group did after the first mystery was solved, although a bit far-fetched, was thought-provoking and fit the story.
A page turner that had me still trying to figure it out at the end. It also had me questioning what I know about our justice system. Would definitely recommend!

I found myself doing this same thing when my relationship ended. Putting away the dreams you once had can be harder than it seems...

A jury on a murder trial is deadlocked when a young woman manages to turn the tide to acquit; a decade later, she must face the consequences when a fellow juror is killed and she is the prime suspect. This was a page-turning and twisty plot which questions our jury system and modern justice. Moore has done an excellent job with this book and I look forward to reading The Sherlockian by him. Recommended.
What a great legal thriller- twists all the way through. Really enjoyed this, stopped trying to work it all out and just went with the flow because there was some crazy twists 😁
Currently 99p on kindle in U.K., most definitely worth it!

These have caught my eye for the moment and our #buddyread for Underland.
Probably start The Holdout today.
Wow what a thrill ride this was. There are so many twists and turns in this story. JUst when you think you have it figured out bam, another twist, The plot is quite pacy and builds to an ending that leaves you just sat there thinking wow. I found myself wondering what I would have done in her situation. That ending is so well done though. The story is well written and gives an interesting insight into the jury after a trial. #netgalley 4*
1. Other than reading and working, I‘m putting up my new kitchen organizer. Pandemic excitement!
2. I have a great reading chair but any place is great.
3. Well, I work in PR like Agatha Raisin and I‘m a little nosey too. But not enough to solve crimes.

Thanks for the tag @TheSpineView
I can‘t believe I ever put this one down...but life sometimes. This was a non stop crime drama with multiple mysteries to unravel. Told in the present from the perspective of Maya, a defense attorney who was a former juror on the sensational trial ten years prior. Her current story is told excellently by weaving in the past perspectives of her fellow jurors when one of them turns up dead at a reunion. Highly recommend!
November #bookspinbingo wrap up. Not as good as I hoped, but still pretty decent for me. Between covid and a couple of bummer books, my reading was slower than I had hoped earlier on in the month. About 70% in the tagged book, so I‘ll try and finish that this week and 20% into The Broken girls so just a square short of the bingo...kinda. 🤷🏼♀️
Have high expectations for this one. I love legal thrillers! #BOTM
Finished this #LMPBC pick and sending it out this week. I really enjoyed our group and the books we read! @suvata

I flew through this one after dragging my heels during another book. Suspenseful and an interesting perspective on the criminal justice system.
I didn't finish the stack, but I made a dent. I also finished the Kindle book I was reading, and the book I was reading when I started the readathon. Though I didn't meet all my goals I am happy with my results. I was able to have quality family and reading time, life is good. Thanks @Andrew65 #SuperSeptember
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I thoroughly enjoyed reading this. I was expecting a better ending. A bit more exciting so only 4 stars. I do recommend it for anyone that likes a good murder mystery cause it did have a good amount of both.
My antisocial feline is having a rare social moment, she is snuggling on me while I read for #SuperSeptember.
Got this today for #lmpbc Can‘t wait to read it!

So far, I‘m really enjoying this book! It has yet to disappoint 😬
What a great way to start off a story other than there‘s a head in a glove box 😂
Received this yesterday for #LMPBC so I‘m going to start it today! Perfect timing!! @shellleigh33 @Kappadeemom @Velvetsun

Terrific courtroom drama/who-dun-it. I love the perspective of the members of the jury and Maya‘s perspective as a juror turned lawyer.
Change of plan on my last hoorah of #bookspinbingo for August, since I‘m not gonna get a bingo anyway, will try and read this one I borrowed from my mom. 🤞🤞🤞
Best underrated book of the year!!! Wow! This book had one of the best hook beginnings ever! This book was not anything I expected. There were twists everywhere up until the very last page! As someone who works in the legal system I held off reading this for a while and now I am kicking myself for waiting. Dang this was fascinating for a piece of fiction.
Graham Moore is such a talented writer. No matter the topic he always comes across as an expert. I have loved every book and this one was no exception. It would make a great book club pick there are so many hot topics in the pages. What I found the most interesting was looking at a case from a jury perspective and how each person can reach the same verdict for a different reason and they are all right. This book gave me a lot to think about.
The Masked Reader!
Everybody wants to know. But maybe growing up means accepting that youre not always able.
Im back on the train starting today! I am the only one in my car.

Sometimes a good legal thriller is exactly the book I need. I'll admit that the ending becomes a bit unbelievable, but it works within the confines of the story.
It's a fast paced read that kept me intrigued through the last page without making me overthink anything so that I could just enjoy the journey.
RL kept getting in the way, but I‘ll finally be mailing out my ##lmpbc book this weekend. I enjoyed it! @shellleigh33
@Kappadeemom @BarkingMadRun
In courtrooms all across this city, Maya had seen people get verdicts they‘d wanted, and she‘d seen just as many get ones they didn‘t. But the verdicts had nothing to do with the truth. No verdict ever changed a person‘s opinion. Juries weren‘t gods. 👨⚖️🏢⚖️
I liked this one a lot! The ending got a bit much for me, but up till then it was very good! I really enjoyed all the characters and the development of the story. Very fitting for the current time and culture too!
56 books total. It was difficult to categorize because I don't know if how I perceive people is how they identify. I have read 10 books by black people, 4 books by nonblack LatinX people; I don't know any of these authors identify as a POC. I'm Latina, and I'm white. I read 1 book by an Asian man, 0 non-LatinX indigenous, and 1 LGBTQIA+ collab w/ various authors. The Holdout is my favorite book published in 2020. @chasingom @Emilymdxn
It is easy to see why the author is an award-winning screenwriter. I inhaled this in a way I haven‘t with any book in months. Really crisp plotting and characterizations. If you have been slumping or struggling to focus on books over the past few months, this is a good mojo reclaimer. 4🌟
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 yes to this one! the ending fell flat for me, but it was gripping and solid all the way through!
This one took a bit to get into, but once it got good, I couldn't stop. And that ending!!!! I love when a book wraps up with a surprise punch. A lot I could see coming, but some of the twists were a fun ride. #BOTM 4 🌟🌟🌟🌟
