Our #ManBooker2016 judges comment on Paul Beatty‘s The Sellout!

‘The Sellout is a brilliantly vicious satire on the absurdities of race and identity in the United States.‘

Have you read it yet?

ivan Reading it right now, about 75% done with it. Great book. I've seen some criticism of it online, and maybe it's not poignant enough for a non-American culture, but I found myself greatly enjoying it so far. Here's to hoping the ending doesn't disappoint. 8y

quirkyreader As soon as I heard about this book I added it to my TBR. I look forward to the long list every year. I've got various Booker winners and listed books in my piles. The most recent acquisition was the 2008 winner The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga. One of my reading goal it to read all of the long listed and short listed books. 8y

Simona At the moment I'm reading my eleventh from the long list - Serious Sweet. I still have to finish His Bloody Project and Do Not Say We Have Nothing. 8y
DreesReads Gave up on Hystopia after making it halfway. "Dazzling" is not a word I would ever use to describe something so horrifically violent. 8y

Penny_LiteraryHoarders I figured that will be the only way to read it here in NA @Lizpixie! I have a bit of a list of UK and AUS books to order. Trying to avoid temptation about doing that. 😁 8y
