Why did I wait so long to read this book? Such a treat! Buddy is not impressed.😹

John and Ella have been married 60 years and have enjoyed traveling in their RV "The Leisure Seeker" much of their married lives. Both have health issues and against their children's wishes they decide to embark on one final RV journey from Michigan to Disneyland in CA. A fantastic story, sometimes funny, sometimes tender, sometimes sad. The Leisure Seeker is a book that addresses issues many of us try to avoid as we age or see our parents age.
This is proving to be a terrific treat. Anyone who enjoys trolling antique shops or flea markets should try this one. Great writing as well.
Trying to get in the Christmas spirit but it's been a stressful few weeks. This author tends to be a go-to choice for satisfying holiday stories.
Hick ........"I cannot remember when I decided that I liked animals better than people." ?me too?"she sense that animals' judgment was based on something deeper than what you look like, how you are dressed or how you rate with your fellow humans"
Even between appointments in the 🚗, I'm totally addicted to this book.💕
I'm still enjoying this story even though the protagonist is very annoying😿
Found Emily Dickinsons grave by chance yesterday.
"The Kenwood neighborhood--fine china amidst a collection of stoneware--started out as a mosquito-filled swamp on the southern edge of Minneapolis."
I love Patchett but, I'm struggling with the non linear fashion in which the story is written😭 what have others thought?
This novella was very different, at times it felt like a memoir with almost a dreamy feel to it. The setting is 1970s Brooklyn and a coming of age story about four young black girls. The story is told in flashback from childhood to adulthood and provided a nice glimpse of life frowning up under sometimes less than ideal circumstances. The audio version was read by Robin Miles who did a wonderful job.
"Meet Frank Cauldhame. Just sixteen, and unconventional to say the least: Two years after I killed Blyth I murdered my young brother Paul, for quite a different and more fundamental reasons than I'd disposed of Blyth, and then a year after that I did for my young cousin Esmerelda, more or less on a whim. That's my score to date. Three. I haven't killed anybody for years, and don't intend to ever again. It was just a stage I was going through."
Book Sale purchases - I used restaint😜 I actually read Cutting for Stone when it was first released but loved it and hope to reread it soon.
Official RBG groupie. I love this woman and everything she stands for. If I were ever to consider getting a tattoo, it would be one of RBG!
Some days Buddy makes reading a wonderful book a challenge. So many great lines in this story - loving it💕
I'm on a Richard Russo roll these last few months: Nobody's Fool, Everybody's Fool and now Bridge of Sighs. This just may be my favorite one yet.
Grimsted, ND is now a booming oil town with an influx of newcomers, both good & bad elements in a town where once everyone knew their neighbors. A 12 year old boy finds a duffle bag contains drugs and cash worth millions. This is a terrific listening experience: edge of your seat moments, Salvadorian MS-13 gang, biker gang, crooked cops & an awesome narrator made this thriller a real treat. Book 2 of a series that begins with Highway.
First book of a new mystery series set in Maine. Winter at the Door was all about the atmosphere, deep woods Maine in winter. Lizzie Snow has accepted a new job moving from Boston to Bearkill, Maine's police force. Someone appears to be killing former cops and making the deaths look like suicides. Decent story but, the characters could have been further developed.
This was a great book, not just for us introverts but, to help extroverts better understand us as friends, lovers, and coworkers.
"It's a strange thing, being suddenly motherless. It's like losing a rudder that was keeping me on course, one that I never paid much mind to before now. Who will teach me how to parent, how to deal with the unkindness of strangers, how to be humble?" "You already did, I realize."
A must read for individuals dealing with eldercare issues, this memoir is a gem. an intimate look at family dynamics, mother/daughter relationships and life and loss. It's a book that will make you appreciate spending time with family while you still have the chance --even the difficult family members.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is turning out to be a fun listen. The style reminds me of books by Fredrik Backman.

What an amazing woman; loving this book💕

My hot buttons have been pushed as I delve into Picoult's latest novel and, as always a controversial topic - RACISM? a black nurse and an order " NO AFRICAN AMERICAN PERSONEL TO CARE FOR THIS PATIENT" the story thus far is excellent.
Killing time in car before my appointment. Cassandra Campbell and Jorjeana Marie are terrific narrators.
One of my favorite books of 2016 but, anyone who steers clear of stories steeped in abuse should probably avoid this book. Review coming soon ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ DUH--just realized I reviewed it here a few days ago. That's what happens when a book leaves a lasting impression💕
Hot Coffee☕️, and Hot Milk, they just go together! -- In Hot Milk, Levy explores the sting of sexuality, unspoken female rage, the lure of hypochondria, big pharma and more.
Half sisters Effia and Esi grew up in 18th century Ghana and their lives couldn't have be more different. Effia is married off to an Englishman & lives a comfortable life in Cape Coast Castle. Little does she know Esi is imprisioned in their dungeon along with other young girls &the conditions are horrendous. They will be sold off as slaves and shipped to America. Wonderful characters and writing, feels almost like Linked short stories. 4.5/5
If you love an entertaining audiobook, narrator Jorjeania Marie hits the mark in making this novel a treat. A story about love, marriage, ambition and politics. A nice mix of humor and wisdom - try it!
Not since "A Little Life" have I read such an uncomfortable but, wonderful novel. A broken young girl and a broken young man form a special bond amongst all the ugliness that surrounds them. Another reader used the word "squirmy" and, yes this is how I felt as I turned each page. Trust me, read this debut novel, it's amazing.
"It's the moment every adult child dreads: losing a parent, and gaining a home jam-packed with decades of goods and memories."
Started this on audio last night. What a fun book to listen to. Narrator Jorjeana Marie is awesome. A hilarious novel about politics and why many of us hate it😬😬
From the New York Times bestselling author of The Guest Room comes a spine-tingling novel of lies, loss, and buried desire—the mesmerizing story of a wife and mother who vanishes from her bed late one night. 💕💕💕January-2017
"Evil begets evil. It grows. It transmutes, so that sometimes you cannot see that the evil in the world began as the evil in your own home."
A celebratory anniversary trip to a posh resort in Mexico goes horribly wrong for the Shipley family. Caroline, Hunter & young daughters, Michelle 5, and Samantha 2, are vacationing with family & friend. On their last night there is a mixup with the hotel childcare services and their 2 year old goes missing. Fast forward 15 years and a call from a teen who thinks she may be Samantha stirs up painful emotions. Well done, character driven thriller.
"As the daughter of a meth dealer, Wavy knows not to trust people, not even her own parents." (I started this at my hair appointment this morning and 50 pages in I'm hooked.)
Just started listening to the audio and enjoying it.
A young couple (Anne & Marco) who seems to have it all makes a terrible descion that makes their life spin out of control. Without giving any spoilers, not only does the couples behavior come under suspicion but, it seems that their family and neighbors have secrets to share as well. A psychological thriller that sucked me in immediately. The writing is a bit simplistic but, twists keep it fast paced. I never knew who was guilty. Read it!
No brainer📱purchased $2.99
Before Esi left, the one called Governor looked at her and smiled. It would be a kind smile, pitying yet true. But for the rest of her life Esi would see a smile on a white face and remember the one the soldier gave her before taking her to his quarters, how white men smiling just meant more evil was coming with the next wave."
So excited this came my way! I've read everything she's written (except the ones with her daughter).
23 years after Nobody's Fool introduced readers to the cantankerous, Donald (Sully) Sullivan and other memorable residents of small town, No Bath, NY, comes this much anticipated sequel. I wasn't thrilled with this installment. It picks up 10 years after Nobody's Fool. Unnecessarily long, frequent changes of POV and the slapstick-like antics of townspeople got to be a bit much. This story and dialogues felt better suited as a movie script. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
"The dead are never far from us. They‘re in our hearts and on our minds and in the end all that separates us from them is a single breath, one final puff of air."
How well do you know the neighbor next door? Your husband? Yourself? People are capable of almost anything. Just started this today --a page turner!
Growing up in MA, I've long been fascinated by the Kennedy clan, a family with so much power and wealth but, one that has experienced so much misfortune. Rosemary's story is beautiful but heartbreaking. She was born with developmental disabilities and, seen as somewhat of an embarrassment to the prominent parents. At 23 Joe arranges for a radical lobotomy in hopes of improving his daughter's mental acuity, but, it goes horribly. WOW⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The much anticipated final book of a trilogy opens with flashbacks to 7 years earlier when a deranged driver, Brady Hartsfield, in a stolen Mercedes deliberately plows into a crowd of people, killing some and disabling others. Now in a coma and in a head injury clinic, what harm could he possibly pose now? The answer would be plenty! Great returning charcters, violence, suicide and revenge throughout the story to make for a satisfying finale.
Probably not the wisest idea but, this Playaway is tucked under my pillow and comes out for 30-40 min each night until I've had enough serial killer stimuli for one evening🤑
My most anticipated September release. Well, actually it was tied with, Dear Mr. M, Herman Koch which I just finished and enjoyed.
