perfectly defines what I feel as a longtime reader ... 🎈
Halfway done, my version of top read 2024.
Never expected that it'd be so hard to decide the best book for each month, but I'm still excited to do more for the rest of the year! 🎉

Well, I wish it could be that easy.
Currently reading this book and somehow I can relate to Eleanor's way of thinking. The quote was said by her Mummy, though. She's clearly not on the list of characters I have sympathy for.
Twelve chapters done, and I've been enjoying the flow so far.
Books I read in May:
🎁 The Tattooist of Auschwitz by Heather Morris
🎁 Cat Stories by James Herriot
🎁 A Good Girl's Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson
Honestly, it's hard for me to pick the top read for last month. But I decided to pick the third one because of all the twists, the satisfying ending, and dare I say: the ravishing Ravi Singh--I love them all! ❤
Can't wait to watch the series adaptation on July! Hope it'll be as great as the book.
"Reading should be an enjoyable experience, not a chore." (R. F. Kuang in Yellowface, Chapter 4)
But if we can do both, why not?
Only several chapters in, and there's already too much drama I can't handle. I'm still wondering where this is going, though ... 🏡
well, it is what it is. some goals can't be achieved last year, but that's okay.
let's set a new goal for 365 new days ahead and try harder to make it complete this time. i love the shade of this year's banner, so i have a good feeling we're off to a great start. keep calm and read books~ 😉✌
And here's my TBR pile, happily guarded by Doraemon figurine (a sweet birthday gift from my brother). ?❤
Currently reading James Herriot's "If Only They Could Talk" and "The Japanese Lover" will be next in line. Hopefully, I can finish them all before the end of the year because my 2022 Goodreads Reading Challenge is still far from the goal. Wish me luck! ✌
While the third season comes for its BBC series, I just bought the second book of James Herriot's heartwarming All Creatures Great and Small. A little secret, though, I haven't finished the first book yet. Feeling so hard to keep up! 😄
... a reading corner, however small, is all that you need to feel like home ... 💕📚
Holiday means book-hunting day. I wish I could buy more~ 💕📚
Just got started with this year's #goodreads reading challenge. "A Mango-Shaped Space" by Wendy Mass--that I've started in July 2020--officially becomes the first book I finished in 2021.
Such an amazing book to kick off the challenge. Hope I can keep it up 'til the rest of the year! Cheers~ ?
Regret is a part of life and that is perfectly acceptable–as long as you‘re not drown in it.
"Everything, Everything" by Nicola Yoon, Chapter "Infected" ✨

Dash and Lily: the perfect series for book lovers, writers, and mystery seekers ... with a splotch of YA romantic vibe.
And I got them all from the very first episode, folks! Haven't felt this way about a series for such a long time. ?
PS. The "he-said-she-said" storyline is the one that hooked me instantly.

Recently, I decided to post on my blog again after abandoning it for more than a year. The blog is specifically designed to share my love of reading by writing reviews, posting some memorable quotes, or discussing book-related topics. It's kind of my online reading journal where I basically talk about books in writing. There's not much to see right now, but I intend to write more posts later. So, I'd be really glad if you could check it out! 😉
I'm still shaken by the news of Naya Rivera's tragic death. Reading her book is one of many ways I do to cope with my grieving process and hopefully, get some closure.
Rest in peace and love, dear Naya. You'll be forever missed. 🌹
One of the most powerful last words in a YA novel. I love this to bits. 💕
"And remember this, that if you've been hated, you've also been loved." --The Portrait of a Lady, Chapter 54
So deep, so true.
I'm not a parent (yet), but I can relate to this somehow.

One of the best books I read last year. Its Hulu series adaptation premieres on March 18, and I can barely wait to watch it! #littlefireseverywhere
This book has been on my TBR list for weeks, and I just found out that it was adapted into an HBO series. I'd better start reading it now before binge-watching the series later. 😊
I just looove polka dot socks! And yes, of course, I love books, too. 😄
#bookontrain 📖🚂
I'm on a night train to visit my late grandma's hometown and this book has accompanied me since I left the station.
Reading a delicious book while drinking a nice cup of matcha latte. 📖☕
Life offers so many things that you can enjoy, and this is definitely one of them.
Another book I read several months ago (I've been so busy lately and didn't have time to post anything on Litsy until now. ?)
Anyway, about the book, this is the second Liane Moriarty's book I've read after "Big Little Lies." I actually love both of them and really love the writing style of Liane Moriarty in general. This quote, for instance, will definitely be one of the book quotes I always remember.
I read the original version of this book several months ago. Now I'm re-reading the translated version in my first language, Indonesian.
"Where'd You Go, Bernadette" is translated as "Ke mana Kau Pergi, Bernadette?"

A local bookstore recently held a big sale to celebrate the independence day of my country, Indonesia. I got all these books for a really low price. That makes me feel lucky and happy at the same time. 😄
I've lost count of how many times I smile while reading this one. 😄
Ah, it's always fun to read Anne Shirley's story. In Windy Poplars, she met so many interesting characters and experienced various intriguing events. Plus, we can have a peek of some wonderful letters that she sent to Gilbert. All in all, it's been a nice reading experience for me. 😊
I recently rearranged my bookshelf, and now I have two empty rooms to fill. 😅
Time to hunt more books, I guess... 😉

Two of my favorite things in the world: books and flowers. 📚🌷
"All any of us wanted, really, was to know that we counted. That someone else's life would not have been as rich without us here."
Same book, but in different media and different language (English and Indonesian).
Which version should I read first?
As someone who has overthinking habit, this is so relatable to me. Listening to other people's problems might be a burden when I'm still struggling with a load of mine.
Meaningful words wrapped in poetries are scattered throughout this book, and this one belongs to my favorite list.
The book itself tells the story about Arthur Louis Pullman III and his journey to seek the truth lying behind the life of his late grandfather. Halfway to the end, and I'm enjoying it so far.
It's a reading rush! I have the urge to finish the book before hitting the nearest theater to watch the movie. And I should say I'm impressed with the way Kevin Kwan portrays the craziness of the rich Asian clans in this book. I am an Asian (but not rich, neither crazy) and live in the neighbor country of Singapore. Somehow, I can relate to the culture of those crazy rich families.
Take me to that second star, Peter Pan! ✨
"For the most part, you don‘t hold the people you love in your heart because they rescued you from drowning or pulled you from a burning house. Mostly you hold them in your heart because they save you, in a million quiet and perfect ways, from being alone."
"Dignity is overrated. People can live without it. I know because I did. But people can‘t live without laughter. I‘ll gladly trade dignity for laughter, because dignity is cheap and laughter is worth everything." --Blake Lloyd
"It occurs to me, then, that people themselves are full of tunnels: winding, dark spaces and caverns; impossible to know all the places inside of them. Impossible even to imagine."
Engaging premise, intriguing plot-twist. It's surely one of the best books I've read this year. A young-adult novel with a good mystery already catches my attention. And the fact that the story is told from four different point of views only makes me love this book even more.
