A. This cover.
B. So much good commentary about race that wasn‘t in my face but inspired mental “yuuup” as I went
C. I never knew how much representation could mean to me as a kid, since being literally born in the middle makes it hard to feel seen. I adore Jane, but Katherine made me feel seen.
Read it!

I feel a bit silly that I was so out of the loop on how to borrow ebooks to send to Kindle/audiobooks from my library for so long. I'm glad Libby was able to help me out. I have been searching/holding/borrowing up a storm! #librarylove #libbyapp

1. California
2. Library at Mount Char. I am just flabbergasted.
3. Hunger by Roxane Gay
4. Island of the Blue Dolphins and The Egypt Game
5. Not a huge film buff, BF usually has to drag me to movies. But looking forward to Dark Tower and IT, enjoying Handmaid's Tale series.
6. Marissa Meyer's new series coming in November!

Finally dragged myself away from my podcasts long enough to get sucked into the audiobook of Waking Gods. I read Sleeping Giants on Kindle but am really enjoying the full cast narration for this one. 😻

LectricSheep A fellow podcast fan! 👋🏻 Any favorites? 7y
minnie89 @LectricSheep yes! The Bright Sessions, The Magnus Archives, Ars Paradoxica, The Black Tapes are my favorite story ones. I listen to pretty much all of the Book Riot ones as well. 7y
LectricSheep I've never heard of any of those! 😍hooray for new things to try out! 7y

This book has made me realize two things.
1. I will read anything Marissa Meyer writes.
2. Never start one of her books at 11 p.m., because I will not sleep if I do.

I love the way she writes her characters, and Jest is slaying me. I'm pretty sure this is going to tear my heart out and then I'm going to be so ready for her new series in November.

addictedbooklover Tell me about it ....her writing is amazing I'm having a hard time putting it down 7y

LOVED this. It's a slow burn, and beautiful and heartbreaking and...SO GOOD. I usually see taking a book slow as not a good thing for me, but I read it slow and savored it. I love the characters and the research it drove me to do, and the setting of Paris in the late 1800s. I was amazed how much I enjoyed it even though I know next to nothing about opera. Read it. 🤓

TBH, I started this book a little bored, but once I was in I was amazed at how urgent the pace is, that I could actually feel my heart racing while reading, and the style is so quirky and odd it was just a delight to read. Definitely, definitely recommend.

I love reading about old buildings that could be haunted, and I love Colin Dickey's angle when talking about each place. I'm also amused that when getting to the chapter about Danvers State Hospital, I immediately thought of Fallout 4's Parsons Asylum, and it's actually based on Danvers. 🙃

Liberty The scariest movie I've seen, Session 9, was filmed in the abandoned building at Danvers, before they tore it down and rebuilt it! 👻 7y
minnie89 @Liberty Now I'm really curious about that movie! 😃 7y

Excellently written, definitely difficult to read at times, but so honest and pulls no punches, which I think is necessary for us today to know, in order to not repeat our mistakes.

I'm most familiar with Mara Wilson from Twitter, considering I wasn't allowed to watch Matilda as a child :( This book was funny, entertaining, and heartwarming - and honestly sometimes so close to home, especially about anxiety. I'd recommend it if you like memoirs in general or if you're a fan of her :)

This book was incredible, relatable, and I couldn't put it down for the last 40% or so (to the point it was 2 am by the time I finished. I'd especially recommend this if you are mixed race.

This book delivered big time. Loved the character development, and the suspense toward the end was maddening/heart racing to just READ. Excellent. I could have done with more Holly and Jerome in my reading, but hopefully End of Watch will have more. :)

This book was hard to put down after around 25% of the way through. It's dreamlike and woozy but not slow, and Emma Cline's writing is sharp and highlightable. I loved all the real-life references to Petaluma and the Bay Area, too.

courtney This book is so polarizing it seems but I also loved it so much! It's definitely a perfect summer read--you can feel the haze! 8y

It doesn't get less crazy. I realized it's a satire, which helped my suspension of disbelief. It is funny and bizarre and you kind of have to roll with the punches as you read. I think if you got (and liked) You Too Can Have a Body Like Mine, you'd like this.

It took awhile to get into because of King's writing style, but I loved getting a better look at Illidan's character. The epitome of an antihero.
