Roz the robot washes up on shore of an island full of animals. The animals are scared of the robot at first, but eventually they befriend her when she starts to raise a baby goose. This middle grade book is so adorable and the sketches are amazing. This little robot had some much emotion! It was perfect. Great book.

I just flew through another audio book and this one was SO CUTE. First of all, pet dragons is the dream. There was a lot of technical talk early on, but it didn't overwhelm. I really liked the main character by the end and his journey. He had interesting motivation that was logical and there were a lot of great women characters. I picked this up when I was craving something with dragons and this was perfect. What's your dream pet dragon look like?

I took a long drive with my mom and we picked out this book together. It was so cute! She remembered reading it when she was young. Ellen Tebbits has to deal with the up and downs of friends and bullies of the fourth grade while hiding a secret. A secret that her best friend shares.

I felt like a kid again when I sat down and read this in a day. An amazing MG book about a princess who is supposed to do "proper" princess things.... being dragon's princess technically counts as proper princess things. Cimorene gets caught up in the politics of the dragons and must uncover a conspiracy about the wizards meddling in the affairs of the dragons. #fantasy #middlegrade #dragons

I really ended up enjoying this book about a woman from the 18th century who sold poisons to women. There are 3 stories entertwined, 2 in the past and 1 in the present. Unfortunately, there was an imbalance in the stories. The story taking place in the present was very slow but picked up at the end and moved this book out of so so. The A plot contains a funny high stakes poisoning gone wrong and the 2 characters must try to not get caught.

It was really nice to reread this after so many years. I have a soft spot in my heart for the descriptions of towns. Steinbeck describes the vibes of a town and even though the people are exaggerated, the mood and language of the story are beautiful. This makes me oddly nostalgic for a time that shouldn't be romanticized.

This is the first audio book I've ever listened to and I'm afraid I've set the bar too high for myself. This book was dark and funny and reflective. Trigger warnings for death, suicide, and child death. I think this books was a great examination of mortality although there was a couple of points towards the end I not sure I agreed with, but she defended her position well and raised some good points about the American funeral industry.

I just finished this book. For my reading goals this year I put read a self help book. This is the first one I ever read and it was really helpful. I enjoyed the chapter about managing your inner critic and catastrophising. It was really geared towards women and identifying as nonbinary made me feel a slightly disconnected, but otherwise I think a lot of the advice is still good and I like that it advocates for being more sympathetic to yourself.

My reading has been going well, but I got a couple books behind on posting so here i go catching up!

This book was a funny middle grade mystery with interesting characters. The priceless clockwork sparrow goes missing but was it an inside job? Maybe the some of the kids working at the store can find out. And does the mystery have anything to do with Sophie's dad? I'm excited to read the next in the series!

Someone should write an erudite essay on ghetto moral, physical, and esthetic effect of the Model T Ford on the American nation. Two generations of Americans knew more about the Ford coils than the clitoris, and the planetary system of gears than the solar system of stars.

I enjoyed this book a lot. Very suspenseful. The first half was my favorite part when we are slowly introduced to the hunting accident. I got a little confused in the perspective shift in the middle of chapters.

Holy shit. I always discounted star trek novels but I was WRONG. This shows amazingly Cardassia recovering from the dominion war and has beautiful stories of Bajoran culture finding a new home on Cardassia. The plot is fun too and is directly in involved with the Cardassian intrigue of how to move forward as a nation. Multiple kidnappings and how do they all connect to Garak who is SO WELL WRITTEN. I cannot recommend enough to Star Trek fans.

This book was SO amazing. I read through it so fast because I couldn't put it down. Some Southern house wives start a book club and get really into reading true crime. This book was so much fun to read. A mysterious uncle who owns a bookshop dies and leaves the bookshop to his niece. But in the store he left clues about his past in the books around the store and Miranda must figure out how she is involved while dealing with the people who come with the book store. #bookshop #mystery #familydrama

I DID IT! It took me a bit of time, but I finished Dune and really enjoyed it. It was like Sci Fi game of thrones. I'd heard a lot of reviews saying it was hard to get into, but I was hooked so fast on the family drama and political intrigue. I loved the supporting characters and when the moments with the evil Baron. A couple lulls, but an amazing read and I'm so glad I added this Sci Fi classic to my shelf. And in time for the new movie! #scifi

What an amazing conclusion to a great series! The magic increases and the main character and her family are interesting and complex. A great winter time read.

This was an amazing sequel to the bear and the nightingale! Vasya must disguise herself as a boy in order to try and help the Russian prince defend against the invading attackers, but her Brother and Sister get caught up in her lies. This book made me cry this morning. I felt so seen.
The book was both so uplifting and reassuring.
It felt like such a comfort that this person I admire so much struggles with self image as much as I do. "It keeps you warm. It eats you alive." Spoke to me so much more than thought it would. I want to reread immediate. Thank you Noelle for this book. The conversation between the younger self and the older self ment so much.

This is one of my all time favorites. I love gifting it to young readers and reread it once a year! A shape-shifter wants to join up with the local villian and become a sidekick. The artwork is so cute and it executes humor, but with an emotional underside so well. I am still in love with these characters and cannot recommend it highly enough.

I saw a lot of people posting about this book and I love it. It was sad and moving, but also so encouraging to read a story about a queer person who grew up with a loving and supportive family. Even if there were struggles along the way. This was a fast read for me and I can't wait to lend it out.

You guys. I'm fucking obsessed with this book! I loved it so much. I really fell in love with the characters and their flaws and the concept of a haunted house story taking place in a knock off ikea is brilliant. It was funny and spooky and had good commentary on the horrors of retail. You could argue that the humor took away from the horror element but I find it didn't bother me and I cannot wait to read more books by Grady Hendrix.

So the last book I finished was really awful honestly but I grabbed some new books yesterday and I'm excited to start!

Anyone ever have mixed feelings about a book to the point where you're not sure if you should put it down or not? I'm over half way through and there are some plot points that are really grabbing me, but also there are a couple unnecessary things distracting from the stuff I'm way more interested in.

Excited to start a new book! It was a random find in a used book store. I've been really in the mood for a thriller/horror read and I hope this will be good! Also any book about a spooky house in the English country side with dark secrets sounds right up my alley.

I had a really fun time reading this book! I loved the characters. They were complex and I cared about them. I don't usually read historical fiction but this was amazing and a great way to get outside my comfort zone. The ending really ramped up and I couldn't put it down for the last 150 pages.

I kind of found this book by accident on the sale table, but I am really enjoying it so far! It's a viking political drama and very well written. I didn't even know I needed that!
