My husband and I started our anniversary weekend by doing some ghost hunting at Myrtles Plantation in Louisiana. It is a beautiful, peaceful place, but I did not get much sleep. 👻

Prairiegirl_reading Happy anniversary! That looks amazing!! 4d
CBee My hometown, Vicksburg MS, has some good ghost hunting spots if you‘re ever interested 👻 😬 4d
Mollyanna Happy Anniversary! Did you stay at Myrtle‘s? I didn‘t realize you could stay there. Seen it on multiple ghost shows… enjoy your stay, hopefully you can get some sleep on the second night. 4d

Pickpick

A queer ghost is haunting (= falling in love) with George Sand in an abandoned monastery in Mallorca. It‘s creative, literary, bittersweet and definitely worth reading.

CoffeeNBooks @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I was hoping it would be as good as The Time Traveler's Wife, but sadly it wasn't. 2w

1: Strangers/All of Us Strangers - my all-time favourite film, which is one of the few I can say, without experiencing that niggling book-blasphemy feeling, is better than the book.
2: Stardust - I loved the book so much, but the film has a totally different vibe, which I preferred.
3: Good Omens - technically not a film in this case, but an incredible series that is far superior to the book, I think.
(Couldn't screenshot, so had to improvise).

TheKidUpstairs The first time I watched Stardust, I watched it twice back-to-back. I love that movie so much! 3w
TheIntrovertedDodoBird @TheKidUpstairs Oh, I love that. It's incredible. I've lost count of the number of times I've watched it now. The cast was brilliant! Watching films back-to-back is a favourite pass-time of mine. I love the comfort in the predictability of it. 3w
ChaoticMissAdventures Poor Gaiman, the movies are just so good! 3w

As much as I loved THE WITH OF TIN MOUNTAIN by this author I have to whole heartedly admit that this book is her best yet. It had me reading until the wee hours of the night. I literally did not want to put this book down. It will be in my top ten of the year I have no doubt.

If you are going to set a book somewhere then visit. It is really inexcusable to get street names wrong or describe areas of a city wrong. Take a research holiday.

York is amazing, and so far I get no sense of that from this book. It's generic England!

Pickpick

This had such a nostalgic style! Louise is the youngest of the cousins who all spend the summer with their grandmother who lives near the beach. Being the youngest, she gets left out as the older girls crush on cute guys at the beach & smoke cigarettes. She ends up befriending a mischievous ghost, who has a family connection. A beautiful coming of age story, filled with very realistic sibling behaviour & the sad realities of the passage of time.
