My library discarded this third Gethsemane Brown mystery (but not the rest of the series), so I was very glad to see it on Kobo Plus. I read it in transit the other day, including during a long stint by the tin trees at the Calgary airport.

There was two much of the Ellie & James love story in the book, and, frankly, I just didn‘t care about it. Neither character is that interesting. There could have been a fun mystery under all that, but it was missing. I wouldn‘t have finished it if it had been by most other authors.
Oh, for Pete‘s sake, Ellie; stop pining for James‘ body and pay attention to the fact that someone out there probably wants to kill you! Right now, I‘d be okay with that. Two hours left; time to choose a new #audiowalk book.
This #AardvarkBookClub pick has been waiting on my shelves & I had so much fun reading it! I giggled, I even teared up! Gretchen grew up a conwoman & for the last few years she‘s worked as a spirit medium in DC. Her best wealthy client sends her to a MD goat farm to perform an exorcism so that it can be sold… & Gretchen meets not only a grumpy farmer, but her first actual ghost who she can communicate with! I really had fun reading this! So cute!
I didn‘t get to walk yesterday because it poured down rain all day. Today, it rained only in the morning, so I was able to get back to my #audiowalk book. With 4 hours left, I hope something interesting happens soon.
This is the longest it‘s taken me to decide if I like a St. James book — I still don‘t know. Got a decent walk in even though I was afraid every second that it would rain. #audiowalk
I like St. James‘ contemporary stories and I liked the one I read that was set in the past, just not as much. The Other Side of Midnight is another one set in the past — 1920s — and it hasn‘t grabbed me as quickly as her more modern ones do, but we‘ll see. #audiowalk
The review backlog continues. The Echoes pulled at my heartstrings but didn‘t destroy me like I was prepared for..after reading reviews (and the blurb!) I was hesitant to pick it up for fear of being too sad, but I found plenty of moments of levity here. 3 timelines, 2 settings: different perspectives and locations. Max is still lingering after his death, watching Hannah in the London apartment they shared. Hannah remembers her past in Australia.
