Book 1 done for the #readathon. I meant to finish this yesterday before it started, but sleep won that battle. I love Rachel Hawkins‘ writing. I liked the third book in this Rebel Belle trilogy a lot more than the second; I‘m glad I stuck around to finish it. I‘m more of a fan of her Hex Hall series, but this is also a fun ‘teen girl with super powers‘ kind of read.

Katniss was not amused when I plopped the book next to her for a photo op. 😹

Looks like I'll be adding the Adventures in YA Reading Challenge 2017 to my list. This challenge was created by the hosts of the Adventures in YA podcast. I really enjoy listening to them talk about YA books and was excited to see them post this on their site the other day! http://www.adventuresinya.com

I've already decided to read Lady Renegades to finish a YA series. It's been sitting on my shelf since it's release date. #AYARC17

BekahB I'm still looking for a good horror reading challenge that has prompts for various categories. If anyone knows of one, please let me know. I might end up creating one for myself if I can't find a challenge! 😄 7y
DeborahSmall @BekahB My reading resolution was to read some horror as it's a genre I've never bothered with. I just finished The Haunting of Hill House. A great classic feel to it. I'm looking for horror recs too, if you come up with a challenge please tag me 👍🏼💞 7y

398.2 Sounds like a good challenge! 7y
BekahB @mom2bugnbee it's a fun one to listen to! The sound quality is good and it's more like listening to a conversation between friends. I admit that it took me a couple of episodes to get used to the back and forth but now I look forward to it. 7y
BekahB @398.2 I was excited to see a YA specific challenge 😀 7y
BekahB @DeborahSmall it's my favorite genre, but I didn't read as much horror last year as I usually do. I'm going to do some searching for a challenge this weekend, but if I don't find one I might create one. I'll tag you if I do! 😄 7y
BookNerdBritt Oooohh I might have to take this one on too! I love me some YA 😍 7y

The first book was the best of the trilogy.... But- this was a fun way to end the series.

Met my reading goal yesterday with 17 weeks left in the year! New goal- 80 books.

Reading this Trilogy taught me how not to write a series. The quirky southern society setting was lost as well as the engaging dynamic between characters as 2 were completely removed from the main plot. Lackluster humor and poor tension/pacing/plot. 2 stars for a predictable anticlimactic finale.

I wanted more depth, but this was a fun one-sitting read.
