I‘m obsessed with this book! It‘s not a traditional Pete the Cat story, but instead in this book Pete is paraphrasing famous inspirational life quotes into words and phrases that young students will understand. Children already love Pete, so this brings more realism to the character. This is a great, engaging book to read daily to students and short enough for students to practice reading on their own. #UCFLAE3414

sboynt Many teaching strategies can be implemented through with this book including RA, SR, GR, IR, or CR. There are so many Pete the Cat activities online because so many children love his stories.

Everyone loves a Pete the cat story and I love this one a lot because it has a great lesson to it that even adults need to hear. This poetic story is fun to read and teaches students to have a half glass full look on life. I think this is great to have in your classroom library especially with all of the negative in the world today. The UDL I would use is 7.2 "optimize relevance, value and autonomy". TS-S

SavannahP0930 I would use this UDL because some stories may seem like a waste of time to kids and if you show them the value behind what is being read they might understand it more. EL 3 "encourage self talk (positive thinking)". I didn't find a good link for after reading but I would give the students several cut out stars and ask them to write something things are thankful for and put them all in one clear cup and see if our glass is half full. #ucflae3414f17 6y

Pete the Cats Groovy Guide to Life by Kimberly and James Dean is a fantasy picture book I would have in my classroom library for independent reading. This book has a bunch of famous quotes on life and how to live an easy one. And there are blurbs that are Pete explaining the quotes even better.

My nephews love Pete the Cat. When we got a new Pete book in, I had to check it out for them.

This isn't a typical Pete story; there is no story line.
It is a series of famous life quotes re-worked to fit Pete's philosophy.

I think it will be a big hit with my nephews. I don't think I'll read it to them in one sitting. I might try breaking it up, like a quote a day. Or maybe we'll even save it, and only pull out the book when advice is needed
