I've done about zero reading this summer, but I've kicked butt on #writing and lesson planning for the new school year. #backtoschool

Librariana I was a middle school teacher for 5 years down in Texas. Taught ESL, AVID, and Language Arts. Seeing this makes me all 😍😍😍 What a fun, awesome format to present information in to your young people! 7y
Melkyl I teach middle school English. I have read this summer and done nothing for school 😂 7y
Brenley @Librariana that's awesome!! Thanks! I stole the idea from Pinterest! 😉 7y
Brenley @Melwilk well most of the writing I did was for personal WIP so... lol! I wish I had read more, but I had a few that I just could not get into... 7y

It's back to school on Monday (2.5 weeks of professional development before new student orientation), and I audiobooked while trying to think through my self care for this school year. Last year almost broke me, for too many reasons to count. But I am going into this year with determination and routines! And believe it or not, this desk is way cleaner than when I started ☺️

EchoLogical You got this! 😉 7y
MemoirsForMe You can do it! 🙌🏻 7y
monkeygirlsmama Good luck! You'll rock it. 😁 7y

Sace Omigosh, I thought the six days of PD I have to endure was hard. Two and a half weeks?! 😨😨😨 7y
heikemarie @RestlessFickleBookSlut Yeah it's a lot! 3 days of special ed-specific stuff and then a mix of network wide stuff (we have like 10 schools in the network), school site, and icebreakers/teambuilders (my least fave of all the things). I usually find it useful but the stretch of time is a bit.........much 😒 7y
Sace @inwhichHeikereadsharder we usually have what I call a pep rally. They bus us (yes, in yellow school buses) to some auditorium and tell us we can solve all the problems of the world if only we are dedicated enough to withstand all the challenges (despite all the things we have no control over.) I'm old and cynical and I've had enough of those. I usually take a personal day. 7y
CindyMyLifeIsLit Sorry your summer is over--it's always hard to see it end 😢. On the other hand, every year is a new beginning! All we can do is gird our loins and march back into the fray, determined to do better this time around. At least, that's what I do every year, and it sounds like you do too. We go back on the 14th for 2 weeks of PD--1 week of content-specific stuff, and 1 week of campus/classroom/individual training required stuff. Good luck this year! 7y
Debiw781 We start back this Thursday and I already see three full days listed of training, with the first one being all day Friday. The afternoon is a training on a program I helped design so the programmers would know what we wanted and then led the test piloting. Yet I have to sit through the afternoon 😖 7y
heikemarie @Debiw781 obviously a decision made with utmost use of common sense! 7y
Debiw781 @inwhichHeikereadsharder Obviously! Our group is too small for me to get away with reading my kindle instead 😒 We'll have to start comparing bad icebreaker/team building activities 😂 7y
heikemarie @Debiw781 oh most definitely!! Today we had to make a bumper sticker to math everyone's role in the sped department 🙄 7y
Debiw781 @inwhichHeikereadsharder 🙄🙄🙄 l hate the arts and crafts team building activities the most I think. Although the one where'd everyone was supposed to put a plate on their head and draw was pretty bad too. 7y
