(Ignore the title from Litsy) Little Roja Riding Hood by Susan Middleton Elya, Pura Belpre Award, Fairy Tale, Ficiton. First off, this book stands out because of its text. The text in this book is English with some Spanish words. The Spanish words in this book were specifically placed so Spanish speakers can follow along and understand somewhat what is going on. This book is very similar to Little Red Robin Hood.

Jenniferj11419 In this book, “Roja” must travel through the woods to bring her grandmother “sopa (soup)” because her grandma is a little sick. Roja runs in to a wolf who takes her cape. Very much like the traditional Little Red Robin Hood with Spanish words within the English narration. This book would be a great S (storytelling) book. 6y
Jenniferj11419 As a teacher to be able to read a book and point out the words that are in another language is important. Also the translations in this book are not anything you need to think about, it is pretty obvious what the English translation is, especially with the context clues and illustrations! 6y

Jenniferj11419 UDL principle 1.1, customizing the display of information definitely works because the author is able to incorporate Spanish words in this book specifically for Spanish language learners. UDL principle 2.4, promote understanding across languages, not only are Spanish language learners learning English but English speakers are learning some Spanish. 6y
Jenniferj11419 ESOL strategy 11, place language in meaningful text. This is very important for this book! The way the Spanish words are placed in this book is so Spanish speakers can follow along easier and understand what some of the English words mean. 6y
Jenniferj11419 ESOL strategy 22, give enough wait time for Spanish speakers to respond to questions. As teachers we have to remember it takes time for our students to think and process an answers, so double that for our Spanish speakers (specially for this book). 6y
SadiqaH The way you described this book is motivating me to read this book. Also , ESOL strategies seem effective. Great choice. 6y
Noelle5 This book would be great to incorporate in the classroom because of its Spanish incorporation! I would love to check this book out and eventually purchase, great for Spanish ELs and even kids who are interested in the Spanish language, very cool! 6y
Kendallc I love fairytales and this is super cute. Love the little spin, and how it incorporates Spanish as well 6y
ambera This would be a great addition to any classroom library. Not only would it allow your students to learn a little bit of Spanish but it would also give your Spanish speakers a book they can turn to. 6y
sboynt I love that this book incorporates Spanish! A great addition to a classroom library. Good strategies! 6y

New year - new book cover! "Little Red Riding Hood", or "Little Red Ridinghood", also known as "Little Red Cap" or simply "Red Riding Hood", is a European fairy tale about a young girl and a Big Bad Wolf. But on our illustration we have Big Cute Wolf❤
Beautiful book cover by Ukrainian illustrator Alina Plastilina

Tigerbook Ugghhhhhh I want it as a poster! 7y
