The week at a cottage that I look forward to each year! I couldn't decide what I was in the mood for so I brought a few library books and a few off my shelves. I'll probably only have time to read one or two but at least I have options. I'll be finishing Radio Girls first.

PurpleyPumpkin Looks like a lovely reading spot. 😍 Enjoy!📚 4mo
Leftcoastzen I love to have more choices too ! Moods can change . 4mo
Aims42 Fellow Mood Reader checking in 🙋‍♀️ Great options!! I really enjoyed ‘Radio Girls‘ 📻 4mo
Jess861 @PurpleyPumpkin Thanks! Nothing quite like reading by a lake! 4mo
Jess861 @Leftcoastzen @Aims42 - Too many different kinds of books to read to not be a mood reader. I never know what I'm going to feel like reading! 4mo

Another rainy morning at the cottage so we are stuck inside until it (hopefully) clears this afternoon. Our time at the cottage is quickly running out and I'll miss being able to get this much reading time in!! I'm looking forward to reading a bit of forest mystery while up at the cottage.

Rainy day at the cottage today so there will be reading, board games and colouring with the kiddos today. Going to jump in on #AuthorAMonth with the tagged book. While I saw this book pop up everywhere for a few months, I have no idea what it is about...which is kind of fun sometimes!

Aims42 I agree, it is a fun change of pace going into books blindly 😄👍 No expectations to fight against (edited) 1y
Jess861 @Aims42 I agree! The book is good so far, but definitely wasn't what I was expecting 😅 1y

If not because of #TBRtarot I would not have chanced upon this book or author. A well-written, delightful story of four girls who turned a run-down cottage into their summer play house. I enjoyed the nice humour, and the way the girls are portrayed..reminds us of the simple joys of growing up. Published in 1904, it‘s old fashioned but sweet.

erzascarletbookgasm Have you read this @LeahBergen ? I think you‘ll enjoy it 😊 2y
erzascarletbookgasm @LeahBergen It‘s available on Gutenberg but it‘ll be lovely to own a vintage edition, look at that cover! 2y
batsy This sounds lovely! 2y

#HidingFromTheLight #BarbaraErskine

This is my first Barbara Erskine novel. It is a story about Emma Dickson who is drawn to a cottage in the woods and decides to move there alone. Piers is living in London and because of his job does not want a long commute. The cottage is haunted by Liza, the herbalist. Emma turns to the rector for help but he is in the grip of something inexplicable and dangerous.

EadieB This was a story of good versus evil and races to a heart-stepping climax. I enjoyed the story very much and will now be looking to read other Erskine books. They are a great escape from mystery books that I normally read. If you enjoy books about ghosts and witches then you will love this book. 3y
Tove_Reads Ah, you liked it, good! I thought it was awful. Definitely not for me. 3y
EadieB @Tove_Reads That‘s funny! 3y
Andrew65 I‘ve only just managed to start this although did read it about 15 or so years ago. I wouldn‘t say it was my favourite of hers from memory. Much prefer Lady of Hay, Kingdom of Shadows and Child of the Phoenix. @Tove_Reads
Those have more of a historical dimension.

Happy to have others joining us for any of the reads if you want to and will be discussing the books during the month as well.
