Okay, final post this morning! Over the weekend I discovered an app called Handy Library - Book Organizer. I've tried several apps that allow you enter & organize your own books, including LibraryThing, but this is by far the most user-friendly one I have discovered. I'm totally in love!! You can enter books by scanning the barcode, doing an internet search, or just manually entering the info. All the fields are editable, so for instance I have ⬇️

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) a lot of Kindle books that are reprints of old books. The “published date“ is automatically filled in with when the Kindle edition was published, but it's so easy to just correct it to 1909 or whenever the original was actually printed. You can put in whether books are part of a series & which number of the series they are, mark them as read or not, favorite them, & sort them in all sorts of ways. You create shelves & can filter all the ⬇ 3y
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) books or just the ones from that shelf. It's easy to move books around as well & has a section for adding your own comments & giving them a rating. You can also take a picture of your own book, which means I can have photos of my actual covers of my physical books instead of whatever the stock photo is. So far I've mostly been using it to organize my Kindle books, which are in a constant state of “I have no idea what I own“ & I love it! ⬇ 3y
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) Definitely recommend it if you're looking for a way to organize your home library - oh, it also has a place to mark if you've loaned a book & to who; I saw several user comments from teachers who have been using it to track which students have borrowed books from their classrooms. You can enter up to 100 books for free. If you want more than that, it's only $6 for a lifetime use with unlimited books. If any of you decide to try it, let ⬇ 3y

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) me know what you think - half the reason I didn't get as much reading done this weekend as I wanted to was because I couldn't stop entering books into this app! 😂 I may have a problem!! 3y
wideeyedreader Sadly it looks like this app is only available on Android! 3y
TheAromaofBooks @wideeyedreader - Oooo I didn't think of that! I'm so used to it being the other way - it feels like most things are Apple first & then if we're lucky we get it on Android 😂 3y
wideeyedreader @TheAromaofBooks Lol it happens! I‘ll just have to cross my fingers it comes to Apple someday! 3y
peanutnine I might try this out! I've just started using Library Thing and I don't love it yet, so I wanna compare and see if this is better for me. Thanks for the tip! 3y
TheAromaofBooks @peanutnine - I really like the concept of LibraryThing & I especially like that I can cross it over to my desktop computer for easier editing. I think it would be especially great if my library was comprised of mostly new books with ISBNs to scan. However, almost all of my 1000-odd books are old & Handy Library has been much easier for me to use for manually entering/editing books. I also love that I can export it into a spreadsheet!! 3y

I‘ve just seen this - at nearly 4 hours long it was quite a marathon- but I really enjoyed it! The focus on libraries as central to the community and of the role libraries play in the digital age were strong themes and at times slightly eclipsed for me the love of reading & books. #recommendit

iread2much This looks great! 6y
Mitch Definitely try to go and see it if you can @iread2much it‘s a real love letter to libraries. 6y

Only a book nerd would visit New York and try to see as many bookish places as possible. Love the public library!

If I was a #richgirl I would swap out my kitchen cupboard library for something more like this. A girl can dream. #augustgrrrl

booksandsympathy Kitchen cupboard library? 7y
GabrielleDubois Too tidy for me, I wouldn't dare bother one book... But really beautiful, you're right! 7y
Cinfhen I could enjoy a room like that ❤️ 7y
Jas16 @booksandsympathy lol. I posted pictures awhile ago but I know it's strange. I don't have a lot of room in my apartment so some of kitchen cupboards are full of books 7y

Pricey, but a fun book bag!! Originally proceeds help the New York public library. I'm not certain if the re-issued bag does.
#bookbag

Lindy My YA book group has a longstanding standard question for every book: Could someone be harmed in the reading of this? The only one I can remember that failed the test was (edited) 7y
tpixie @Lindy Good thoughtful question!! 7y
tpixie @Lindy yikes that book could be harmful to a questioning person. 7y

Does anyone else use Libib? It's an awesome free app & website to catalog, tag and organize your books and other media. Best of all, you can scan most books in with your phone! I love it and I just discovered you can share your library with others! You can find me at http://beccaeve.libib.com

bookishkai Um, this is awesome? How did I not know such a thing existed? 7y
beccaeve @bookishkris It's super awesome! I love that I can share my library now because people always ask if I have certain books. (And it's really handy when I find myself at a bookstore wondering if I already have a book). 7y
Librarianaut This us everything!! Cataloging to the masses, indeed!! So much order, my heart leaps!!❤️❤️❤️❤️ 7y
