"Time and space seemed to me to be fluid, carrying me on their stream; I was the Wandering Humanity, the aimless Humanity, yet inflamed with ideal: the Humanity enslaved by some laws and yet driven by a rebellious will to break them down, to make an existence free from them ..."
Absolutely fabulous! Please read it, especially if you're a mother, it's heatbreaking!
Please let me know if you read it, I'd like to share this reading.

Novels ambassadors of happiness!

By writing her first novel, the author had a goal: to have fun, to escape from her daily life, to find back smile and well-being.
That's all ?
Yes, and that's a lot, it's even essential because, as the author says:
"When the writer is happy to write a story, the reader is happy to read it!"

www.gabrielledubois.net also thanks readers, maybe you're there!

SamHeartCoffee Kate Chopin and Maya Angelou. I loved The Awakening. 5y
GabrielleDubois Hi, @Jobe Here's a bookstack to complete your current reading! 😉 5y
GabrielleDubois @SamHeartCoffee I read Wollstonecraft, David-Neel, Sand, Woolf, and I'm currently reading Kate Chopin The Awakening, and I love it! And I loved the others too. Reading women changes the way we see the world and ourselves, women. I see we share a lot and can learn a lot from one another. 5y

Hi, female readers!
Maybe you would be interested in my new blog post on Goodreads, the title is:

It's about how us, women, behave unconsciously.

JennyM Such a lovely picture 5y
GabrielleDubois @JennyM Yes, the "picture" is lovely, thank you, Jenny! ? It's been a big big step for me to post my portrait first on the back cover of my books, and then on Goodreads and ... here! 5y

Suet624 Bravo to your daughter! 5y
GabrielleDubois @arlenefinnigan Oh, thanks Arlene! As I wish female word is heard, read and seen, I try my best to share female authors and female thoughts. They're are so many clever and passionate women out there waiting for men to let them have the place they deserve. 5y
GabrielleDubois @Suet624 Hi, Sue, so you read my blog post on Goodreads? So you're also on Goodreads, maybe? 🙂 5y
Suet624 I am on Goodreads. Same name as on Litsy. I don‘t use Goodreads too often (honestly, I find it hard to navigate) and I had a hard time finding your blog but, yes, I read it and applaud your thoughts. 5y
GabrielleDubois @Suet624 Wonderful, Sue! I'll have a look at your page. I found it hard too, in the beginning because it's computer and because it's all in English. But I finally managed. I surprised myself but I found it interesting to share our readings. Not that I don't care about other readers' thoughts, but I'm more used to work alone on my writing. But there are always good things coming out of discussions. 5y

'Madam? asks the doctor.

"The author, Gabrielle Dubois, develops each character thoroughly. We come to know Louise intimately as she grows both physically and emotionally through the book. Each new character who is introduced is given adequate space in the book so that we also know them, know how they came to be where they are and why they are now in Louise's life..."

No moral or useful purpose, only beauty in writing and feelings — the highest and most noble in human beings.

GabrielleDubois @CarolynM Yes! A Tom Roberts painting! A great Australian painter, I love his paintings too Carolyn. And yes, the heroine travels in Mistress Mine - France, Polynesia, Australia... from 1876 to 1880. I read a lot of memoirs by French people who went to these different countries at the time, so I couldn't see through their eyes. It was interesting, surprising and fun! Italy 1860, monasteries and convents are numerous, Garibaldi's revolutionaries are organizing.
"Soon it would be dark, convents became the despots of the panorama. It was against them that the fires in the mountains were kindled, fanned by men who were entirely like those who lived in convents, equally fanatical, equally closed-minded, just as eager to power, that is to say, as usual, idleness." Wonderful book, reviewed on Goodreads!
