Ballplayer | Chipper Jones, Carroll Rogers Walton

Just had to share this somewhere! I‘ve been floating on air since my Braves won the NLCS on Saturday night! Jace is excited and keeps walking around the house saying “Go Braves!”. I‘m not gonna lie, I cried when they won. I was prepared for disappointment and was almost in disbelief when they got that last out! I jumped a foot off the couch (and reinjured my bad foot, oh well!) and yelled. I‘ve been waiting 22 years for this. So excited they‘re ⬇️

JenlovesJT47 Back in Atlanta tonight. Jace knows Chipper Jones is my fave player but doesn‘t understand he‘s retired, so he‘s always looking for him when we watch the games 😆 Thanks for listening to me ramble (gush). I just had to give a quick shoutout to my man Chipper Jones for being a first ballot hall-of-famer. ❤️ For those not into baseball, that is a huge deal! 🤗 My Chipper (bottom left 😻) and I are very proud! P.S. I would highly recommend Chipper's book, I devoured it in a day!

Chipper hit the hell out of my Buccos. For that, I want to dislike him. But I can't, because he seems about as genuine as they come, and he just honestly loved - and was so grateful for - his job. Just four pages in, and I'm here for the whole ride with this book. 👍🏻⚾️ #ballplayer #chipperjones

As an avid Braves fan and a lifelong fan of Chipper Jones, I devoured this in one day. I admire Chipper's candor in admitting to his mistakes in his personal life & taking full responsibility. He is a good ol' boy from my neck of the woods in Florida, and learning more about his childhood and growing up years was very enlightening. And, of course, he is an amazing baseball player and future hall-of-famer. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Highly recommended! #baseball ⚾️

JenlovesJT47 Lots of great stories about other baseball players and his friendships with them, including Derek Jeter, which I must say pleasantly surprised me. And if you love baseball, he breaks down a lot of the hitting/pitching info which is very interesting. He has an amazing memory, and the coauthor got his voice down perfectly. 👍🏻⚾️☺️ (edited) 7y

JenlovesJT47 @mom2bugnbee that's awesome! I'm from the Orlando area, close to Altamonte Springs, which he talks about playing them in Little League and stuff. He grew up not too far from me. I thought it was cool, reading about Altamonte Springs in a book, which most people have never heard of! 🙃 7y

mom2bugnbee @JenlovesJT47 I grew up in DeLand. Chipper's family is from Pierson, FL, which I'm not sure is even on the map. Kids from Pierson went to DeLand High, about a 20 minute drive. By the time Chipper got to high school, he was so good that his parents put him in school in Jacksonville because they had an amazing baseball program. But my brother will always be able to say that he played Little League with Chipper, which is pretty cool. 7y

actualdisneyprincess I read "56" a couple of summers ago, and remember enjoying it! Also "Fantasy Camp," by Jim O'Brien, which is full of stories from guys who have attended the Pirates' fantasy camps, both fans and players. :)

Chipper owns up to a lot of mistakes. Would have liked more extensive stories of the Braves failures in the playoffs but he seems to only cover the good times.

I did not expect to love this book as much as I did. But it was so good! Thanks to the wonderful writing of Carroll Rogers TBH. So 2 things: He is one of the greatest ball players ever. He is a terrible person. He used to be my absolute favorite player until he totally screwed his wife over. I never liked him the same way after that and the book doesn't help that. He definitely tries to subtlety skew that situation to make himself look better.
