A great read that explains all the many sneaky ways in which the allies won the war.

Giles Milton, regarding Robert Bower.
Sadly relevant today. #punchnazis
Fascinating account of espionage, sabotage reconnaissance, and localized resistance conducted by criminals, rogues, and survivalists, with brutal tactics and grit. Warfare like no one had ever seen before that broke all the rules of gentlemanly conduct. An interesting book for any history lover. It focuses on ordinary people called on to do extraordinary things during wartime, or, how candy and condoms made bombs.

Really enjoyed this book. Big fan of WWII history and lesser known stories/backstories of major conflicts and units. This book was very interesting.
Second NF in a row! What is happening to me??
Third of the way through this and so far, so very good! Amazing story about the British men and women who decided to buck tradition and fight “dirty” in WWII.
B&N sent me coupons. I must be #insaneinthebrain. This is my #bookhaul from tonight and does not include the books I bought for Mom's birthday. #90sinjuly
At least no one can say that my taste is books is too narrow.
A gift from a friend. I did not like this as much as I thought would, perhaps because I was not sure what the authors focus was. Part history of a group of weapons developers and trainers who created created and armed British special forces in WW2 but equally a partial history of the missions of the Special Operations Executive. Having read a history of the SOE I found myself wanting more of the first and less of the second.
Yes! Yes! I listened to Agent Zigzag, and also to Doublecross, last year, and loved them. This one was just as good. Love these stories!
#TBRtemptation post! This was the actual name of a top-secret group of men hand-picked by Churchill in 1939. 6 gentlemen, 1 goal: the destruction of Hitler's war machine by sabotage. 1 man was rated the world's leading expert on silent killing. Another was a maverick engineer, especially with bombs. They were led by an overly-dapper Scotsman & aided by a group of formidable women. Vivid narrative history at its finest! #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎
