The Lethal Stuff of Legends For Jessica Tregarth, an unexpected invitation to visit her grandfather in England is a wonderful surprisean opportunity to open doors to a family past that have always been closed to her. But sinister acts greet her arrival. A stranger tries to steal her luggage and later accosts her in Salisbury Cathedral. Mysterious villains pursue her through Cornwall, their motive and intentions unknown. Jessica's only clue is an antique heirloom she possesses, an ancient ring that bears the Tregarth family crest. And her only ally is handsome gothic novelist David Randallher self-proclaimed protectorwho appears from seemingly out of nowhere to help her in her desperateattempt to solve a five hundred-year-old, puzzle. For something from out of the cloudy mists of Arthurian lore has come back to plague a frightened American abroad. And a remarkable truth about a fabled king and a medieval treasure could ultimately make Jess Tregarth very rich...or very dead.

I picked up the tagged book at this cute little used bookshop, the Literary Lizard, in Placenia, Belize. The owner brought many of the books from Canada, packed in suitcases! Most books were available for purchase, but she also keeps a selection for check-out. A fun find! (Though a bit warm for extended browsing - no AC 😅)

JamieArc Cute! 2y
mabell @JamieArc It was! The decor was so welcoming and cozy - I wish I‘d taken more photos! 2y
CarolynM Enjoy the book - it‘s not my favourite visit with my book boyfriend (called “Cousin John” in this one) but still fun🙂 2y

mabell @CarolynM Is this a Vicky Bliss? The description sounded like a standalone. “Not my favorite” doesn‘t move it up the TBR 😆 2y
CarolynM I‘d call it a standalone, although it‘s sometimes listed as the first Vicky Bliss (even though she doesn‘t appear🤷🏻‍♀️). It‘s a fun story, so don‘t let the “not my favourite” put you off🙂 2y
mabell @CarolynM Ha, interesting! 🤔 It does sound fun - reminded me of a Mary Stewart-like plot. 2y
BiblioLitten So cute! Reminds me of those nooksy ice cream places. 💚💕 2y
mabell @BiblioLitten It does! She did such a good job making it eye catching and fun. There were lounge chairs and tables with games. She also said she could make Italian sodas - she was talking to my husband and I was browsing, so it didn‘t really register. I wish I had taken her up on it! 2y
CaramelLunacy I don't specifically remember this one, but I enjoy Elizabeth Peters' novels, so I hope you have a good time 2y
mabell @CaramelLunacy I really enjoyed Crocodile on the Sandbank! This one sounds intriguing. Do you have an favorites? 2y
CaramelLunacy @mabell Crocodile on the Sandbank for being such a fun intro and I am very fond of The Falcon at the Portal as well. 2y

Slightly comatose due to the consumption of a large number of Starburst jellybeans. 😅

Hoping to get a little #axethestacks reading in... but also tempted by a nap. 😬

Verity Oooooh. An Elizabeth Peters I haven‘t read! 3y
Johanna414 The Starburst jelly beans got me today too 3y

Two novels featuring my book boyfriend "Sir John Smythe"

#IWannaBeYourLover #PrinceOfJuly

margreads Fun series. I must get back to the amelia peabody series at some point too 6y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks 💜💜💜 6y
vkois88 I have about 5 book boyfriends 😂😂 6y
LeahBergen I should read these. I‘ve read a few Amelia Peabody books and The Jackal‘s Head. These look fun! 6y
CarolynM @LeahBergen I think everybody should read them😂 But, seriously, if you like the Amelia Peabody books I'm pretty sure you'll like these. The Camelot Caper is a stand-alone really, but it does feature John at his disreputable best. 6y

After traipsing around the city on my nephew's last day here, what do I stumble upon but a book sale 😂 A number of these are #blameitonlitsy: Nicci French because of @TrishB , Woodson because of all of you (& Tupac in the title, enough said), The Blazing World thanks to @Billypar @BarbaraBB & @Suet624 . The Elizabeth Peters is one I've been meaning to read for decades 😆 & the Opening Night Murder is a Restoration-era mystery that sounds fun.

erzascarletbookgasm Nice haul! Curious about the Opening Night Murder 6y
batsy @erzascarletbookgasm Popular is having this book sale at Avenue K near KLCC until the weekend :) Yes, it looks good; I hope it's a good read! 6y

Cinfhen Nice reward for playing tour guide 🤗 6y
TrishB I love this series! Frieda is a great character, her group of friends are awesome, her crime solving is unique and her walks around London are fab! Hope you enjoy when you get to it. (edited) 6y
BarbaraBB Nice haul! I hope you‘ll like Siri Hustvedt. Have you read her before? 6y
Sweettartlaura @TrishB is right - the Nicci French is awesome! Clear your decks - you‘re going to want to blow through them all❤️📚 6y
CarolynM The Camelot Caper is fun, but not one of her best 6y
RohitSawant Awesome haul! 🙌🏻 6y
saresmoore How fun! I‘m a bit envious of your nephew. 😊 6y
Billypar Very nice! If you're going to pick up Blazing World sooner, let me know if you want to do a buddy read- I have vague plans to start it sometime in May--July. 6y
Lindy 👍So glad to see in your stack: 6y
Cathythoughts Oh great book haul , I have Nicci French on my kindle, I hear great things. ! 🎉. Oh & poor dear nephew 🤦🏻‍♀️... I hope he hasn‘t seen that book about an aunt & a ....... 6y
batsy @Cinfhen Haha yes, yet another #treatyoself episode in my life with more books 😂 6y
batsy @TrishB You make it sound so good! I remember you mentioning her walks around the city, I find that so appealing! @Sweettartlaura So glad to hear that you enjoy it too 😊 6y
batsy @BarbaraBB None of her fiction, only one of her book of essays which were interesting and complex 6y
batsy @CarolynM Ah, good to know. I'll keep it in mind when I need some lighthearted fluff 😁 6y
batsy @rohit-sawant Thank you! Happiness is a good book deal 😆 6y
batsy @saresmoore Fun for me indeed. My nephew might disagree with you 😂 6y
batsy @Billypar Oh, that sounds lovely. June or July would be great! 6y
batsy @Lindy Really looking forward to it! 6y
batsy @Cathythoughts The Nicci French books sound awesome, don't they. And right up your alley with the psychotherapy theme. As for my nephew, lol!! This is the younger one who occasionally reads a book. The elder one would barely let me last 2 minutes at a book sale and has a good time pointing out that book you mentioned 🙄😂😂 6y
RidgewayGirl The Blazing World is amazing. I read it last summer and I‘m still thinking about it. 6y
Kalalalatja Great haul! 6y
batsy @RidgewayGirl That's great to know! I am very much looking forward to it. 6y
batsy @Kalalalatja Thanks! 😊 6y
Billypar @batsy Ok, perfect: I'll check in when it gets closer to get a good timeframe. @RidgewayGirl that sounds promising! You know it's special if it's still on your mind after a year. 6y
readordierachel Nice haul 😃 6y
Suet624 What a great haul and I‘m so glad you found Blazing World. If you think of it let me know when you and start to read it and I‘ll try to join in. 6y
batsy @ReadOrDieRachel Thanks :) 6y
