Very quick audiobook. It took less than an hour to get through. As a nurse at a foster/group home I quite enjoyed this read. It is also interesting to see how far society has come since the orphan trains. 4:5 ⭐️

This is a short story, and a true story, about how a boy's family of brothers and sisters were separated from their real family's and later got picked out in churches where the train stopped in towns across the U.S.A.
They were picked to be adopted, and as this boy finds his brothers and sisters.

#NFNov Documentary number 2 finished.
#TIL The state of New York took in the most "Orphan Train" riders. I always thought they all went to the Midwest. This was a very good documentary, with interviews from actual Orphan Train Riders.

I was made aware about #orphantrains after reading the #historicalfiction #OrphanTrain by #christinabakerkline. It was #heartbreaking but did pique my interest about this part of world history. This book #thetrainrider is the true account of #leenailing who rode the orphan train to #texas when he was 9 years old in 1926. #goodread #booknerd #nonfiction #history #yycreads #alwaysbereading #passionforreading #bookart #read150 #trains#calgarylibrary

This #nonfiction #audiobook was an informative read! I've read a few books, both fiction & nonfiction, about the orphan trains. This one focused on one boy's experiences, while also pulling others' experiences in for comparison. The book focused on both the positive and negative aspects and effects of the orphan train system, creating a balanced & unbiased look into the subject. I definitely recommend.

Chelsibno ***Also, if you're ever in Concordia, KS, stop by the Orphan Train Museum. 7y
