pickThis was my #bookspin book! Now I‘ve read two from #bookspinbingo. This was recommended by the fifth grader that I tutor and I can see why she likes it- it was too dark and also too “on the nose” for my taste, but I can see why a child would like it and I enjoyed the ending!

pickAMAZING. A work of art. The first young adult book i ever read when i was 10. This book holds precious memories for me. You really start to worry for Piper. Whether she‘ll be able to fit in, make new friends and escape the institution. Piper is such a unique childlike character who has endless curiousity about the world. Unlike any other. A must read

#petpeeve # 2. When you are two books in a series and both say paperback, but they are not the same. They are two different sizes. In the long run I don't care but this annoys me.
pickThis one was incredible for a very long list of reasons, but the thing I found so refreshing is that the characters are exceptionally young; Piper herself is nine, and the eldest, Conrad, is only twelve. Their childlike view of the world gives the book a uniqueness and depth not seen in very much fiction today.

pickStarting off my #litsy with a little known favorite of mine, Victoria Forrester's The Girl Who Could Fly! It may be a children's book, but Forrester does a wonderful job portraying depression in a way that neurotypicals could understand. The characters and their powers are as unique as their names. This book... It gives me life. It's such a bittersweet mix, but that's what makes it special to me.
