Five teens victimized by sex trafficking try to find their way to a new life in this "sincere and moving" (Booklist) companion to the #1 New York Times bestselling Tricks from Ellen Hopkins, author of Crank. In her bestselling novel, Tricks, Ellen Hopkins introduced us to five memorable characters tackling these enormous questions: Eden, the preacher's daughter who turns tricks in Vegas and is helped into a child prostitution rescue; Seth, the gay farm boy disowned by his father who finds himself without money or resources other than his own body; Whitney, the privileged kid coaxed into the life by a pimp and whose dreams are ruined in a heroin haze; Ginger, who runs away from home with her girlfriend and is arrested for soliciting an undercover cop; and Cody, whose gambling habit forces him into the life, but who is shot and left for dead. And now, in Traffick, these five are faced with the toughest question of all: Is there a way out? How these five teenagers face the aftermath of their decisions and experiences is the soul of this story that exposes the dark, ferocious underbelly of the child trafficking trade. Heartwrenching and hopeful, Traffick takes us on five separate but intertwined journeys through the painful challenges of recovery, rehabilitation, and renewal to forgiveness and love. All the way home.

Bk 2 of Tricks series: We pick up with the “Tricks” characters where they left off, with each character coming to terms with addiction, abuse, recovery (physically and emotionally) and making decisions appropriate to their needs and circumstances. Though their losses are deep, can they forgive themselves and move forward?

After reading Tricks, I knew I had to read Traffick! I am a fan of Hopkins writing style. I love how she ends Tricks with the characters at their all-time lows, but shows how even through struggles, they can reach redemption in Traffick.

Day 22: A book that makes you cry

Not one book has moved me to tears yet, but I will say that these stories made my heart ache. Ellen Hopkins does a good job of writing realistic YA fiction novels that are based on very real problems that happen every day. In Tricks and Traffick, Hopkins narrates the lives of a few teenagers that were unfortunately misdirected into human trafficking.

Seems weird to say happy to dive into this one but always happy to pick up some #ellenhopkins. This one can be sometimes hard to read but such an important topic. I support the #enditmovement, check them out if you havent. Human trafficking is a horrible horrible thing that needs to end. Worse, there are so many ways for it to happen. #winterreads #motleychallenge #redcover #ellenhopkins #poetry #verse #darktopics #intensereading

Finished this book within 24 hours and this continuation of Tricks by Ellen Hopkins helps the characters develop and transform. Another item of proof of what a phenomenal writer Hopkins is.

Not quite as good as the first one, but still excellent. I sped through it.

I never expected to care for anyone,

period. I've worked very hard to
avoid it, in fact, which is why
everyone thinks I'm cold. Maybe
I am, but it's because I'm afraid

of getting hurt. Love wasn't meant
for people like you and me. You
have to be strong and brave to fall
in love. And maybe a little stupid.

As many of Ellen's Hopkins books are, this book is tough to swallow. Beautifully crafted and a wonderful sequel to Tricks, this book holds so much raw emotion and truth inside the pages. I'd still rank this in my bottom three Ellen Hopkins books but that doesn't mean it's not a magnificent book, it's simply the subject matter that makes it hard for me to fall in love with this book. 5/10 for an Ellen Hopkins book, but 7/10 for a book in general.
