Asheville
Asheville: A History | Nan K. Chase
5 posts | 1 to read
Asheville, North Carolina, grew from humble beginnings as a hamlet for local livestock handlers to become one of the most culturally and artistically diverse cities in the South. Here in this book is all the fascinating history of Asheville, complete with a rich array of photographs. Multiple appendices reveal details concerning many lesser-known aspects of Ashevilles unique history, including city buildings designed by architects Richard Sharp Smith and Douglas D. Ellington, and city projects funded by philanthropist Julian Price.

💛 I read a lot of ARCs. For others I support that by owning my own business and years of investing and being frugal.

Kaila-ann Love Asheville 😍 5y
TheSpineView @Kaila-ann Everyone seems to love Asheville. 5y
Kaila-ann It‘s easy to do if you don‘t actually live/work there I think. A place becomes a little different if you live there. 5y
Amiable I‘ve never been to Asheville yet, but I‘ve heard great things about it. 5y
cjk Just visited Asheville in September- cute town. My friends live in Brevard. 5y

The view from my living room of my house in Asheville.
1. The summers in the mountains are cooler with less humidity and there is lots of outdoor stuff to do.
2. Sit in front of the fire and read all day.
3. The shade in the summer and sun in the winter.

Butterfinger I live down the mountain from you. 5y
TheSpineView @Butterfinger Cool! East like Old Fort area or south around Greenville? 5y

I‘m going to Asheville, NC next week for vacation. Any suggestions on what to do or where to eat? We‘re already planning on the Biltmore and Malaprop‘s, but open to a lot more suggestions. #litsybatsignal

Aims42 If you don't have Bojangles near you, that's my vote! I went to Charlotte, NC 2 months ago and went there twice LOL 7y
Librarylady We loved Early Girl Eatery when we visited a few years ago. It's got a unique menu of healthy options and some super yummy croutons on their salads. 7y
BarbaraTheBibliophage Hike the waterfalls! 7y

bookwrm526 LOTS of wonderful places to hike nearby 7y
Susanita Biltmore is a little overwhelming, but the garden is beautiful. 7y
ness Love Asheville! Ditto for Early Girl. Delicious food! Bouchon is also tasty if you like French food. Home Grown is great food and beer, and Hop has amazing milkshakes (and can do them vegan if that‘s your jam)! 7y
Cathythoughts Have a great trip 👍 7y

Just came back from my annual Girls Weekend in Asheville, NC. ⛰🎻🍷🌮📚. Decided I could live in this bookstore. It has books, of course, and two bars- a coffee bar and a cocktail bar. What more could you want? Check out the menu of bookish cocktails. I highly recommend the Secret Garden. #Asheville #BatteryParkBookExchangeandChampagneBar
